I doubt Rogers says anything. We would know something already.

Have there been any updates or other reports from any other sources (Levine, Miles, Ofman) about anything other than the usual vague reports of interest?

Nope.

I agree. I'd definitly throw in a mid-range prospect to make that deal happen. I just have to look at it the other way around. If we had Bradley, and the Dodger said, "Hey, we'll trade you this Corey Patterson fella who's coming off a solid .215, sub .300 OBP season for Milton Bradley. Don't worry, he's probably only going to make $3 million next year." I mean, I'd probably punch the guy in the face.

Again, we're in agreement. ;) But for whatever reason, sometimes GM's just don't think like us Joe Schmo fans. The Dodgers seem intent on playing a Bradley-free 2006 season, even if it means getting little to nothing in return for him. (Kinda like Hendry's apparent reasoning that makes Walker so completely expendable for the Cubs.)

Mr. Miles is in the house :D

Looking at his stats...he's only had one full year? Are the others years short due to injuries? His stats look decent....but....am I the only one who see's the possbility of Corey getting it together? He's (Corey) certainly had his problems...but he's also had been great at times. Last year at this time very few wanted to dump him. I picture him in that Dodger uniform....it would be our luck to have him turn into a superstar out there.

Rogers says Kearns for a Cubs pitcher or 2 still has "traction."

Kaplan (?) says Kearns is Corey redux (Ks 1 out of 4 ABs).

Rogers says Huff is a bad guy and can't hit with RISP.

Phil Rogers says trade for Juan Pierre is "close". :puke:

dont worry, reports have been saying we've been "close" for Pierre for a while now. And i agree with the last 2 posters...gimme Lugo please and say no to Huff.

Rogers says Cubs talking to Rays about either/or Huff or Lugo, but not both.

What the hell Phil? Not 3 hours ago he was on Comcast saying the Cubs were in intense discussions with the DRays about a multiple player trade with 1 of them being Huff.

If Bradley is locked in, I'd work on Huff, Gathright and Lugo. If we only got Huff and Lugo, I'd still look into Wilkerson. Wilkerson, Murton and Huff can platoon.

An outfield of Wilkerson, Bradley and Huff looks pretty good, especially with Murton as the 4th outfielder. Heck, if you went that route, you wouldn't need Lugo. They could just stick Cedeno at SS with Walker at 2nd.

I don't know about that... if the Cubs get Bradley I'd just as soon they concentrate on one great outfielder instead of trying to get a couple good ones. Start by seeing if Philly, Boston, or the Reds would accept a package based on Williams+Hill+others for Abreu, Manny, or Dunn. If they insist on one of Prior/Zambrano as part of the deal, move along to the next tier of OF, namely Wilkerson or Huff. Hopefully some package including Williams and/or Hill could land one of those guys, and in TB's case even get us Lugo as well. I'd be perfectly happy with an OF of Murton-Bradley-(Wilkerson/Huff), as well as content if our middle IF was Cedeno/Walker, though I could also be happy with Lugo/Walker or Lugo/Cedno.

This is all insane. I cannot believe it's taken basically 2 years to go from completely hopefull to possible train wreck in progress.

Does it really shock you? This is the Cubs, after all.

It's possible, but not at all likely at this point. I'm fairly certain he'll be better (probably much better) in 2006 than he was in 2005. Considering it's almost impossible to do any worse, however, that's not saying much. Bradley is just two years older than Patterson and has enjoyed far more (sustained) success than Corey at this point.

OH How I LOATHE Baker.

Why? Was Dusty on the radio too?

When asked about the prospects of guys like Murton and Cedeno getting fulltime gigs, he replied: Well if I dont play them i will be accused of not liking young players (this was the jist according to Rogers)etc....

I'd want to entertain Abreu or Dunn as well. But, I'd also like to secure a good outfield and not fall short if none of those guys end up being available.

No, but basically what Rogers said was Baker had a meeting with the media and somebody asked him what he thought about Murton and Cedeno and Baker's response was something like"If I dont play them I dont play young people." and then went on to justify how he plays young people like the bull pen and back in his days with the Giants. Typical Baker.
