While the cost-cutting Marlins still are refusing to lower their asking price of Robinson Cano for Juan Pierre, they have begun to tell teams that every player on their roster - including Dontrelle Willis and Miguel Cabrera - is available for the right price.

Wow. If they don't want to keep Cabrera and build around him, that is just insanely stupid.

Maybe Willis and Cabrera have told the Marlins privately they don't want to go through a rebuilding process, and they'll talk to the media about it if they don't trade them.

I will gladly give up our top 3 prospects for Cabrera.

Pie, Hill, Williams, Walker, and two additional pitching prospects for Cabrerra and Pierre. :D

Good trade imo. We get two young offensive hitters, entering their prime, with World Series experience.

What would the Fish take for Miggy if they don't want any players with a high price?

I would guess something like Pie, Hill, Marshall, and Cedeno.

take our top 10 prospects for miggy plz

How about just giving them the entire Diamondjaxx roster?

Both players have more than 2.5 years under the belt. If this is at all true, it shows that Florida is deathly afraid of paying these guys' arbitration money when they become eligible.

The only people they would take back are guys who are nowhere near arbitration eligible, which means you have to trade only prospects who have had at most a cup of coffee in the majors.

For the Cubs, Hill, Murton and Cedeno might fit the bill, since they all had less than a half year of big league experience. I'd package all 3, with Guzman, Pinto, Harvey, Dopirak and Pie. If they don't feel a need for Cedeno, considering they already got Hanley, fine, throw in any other combination of prospects to take him back.

That would still leave the Cubs with money to spare, and the possibility to spin Willis to Philly for Abreu, solidifying the OF.

Yes, yes, I do believe that putting Abreu and Cabrera in the same outfield would, in fact, solidify it.

Didn't the Marlins sign Willis through his arbitration years and/or beyond?

I'd offer A LOT for Cabrera. Not sure if we have what they would want, though. Other teams could offer much more, like the Dodgers.

If I'm Florida, and I trade Willis and Cabrera, the names I want back are names like Sizemore, Delmon Young, Felix Hernandez. I don't think they would be interested in quanity. I think they would take players comparably talented, but with less service time.

You could put me in center with that OF!

I wonder if Miggy wants to go to a place where he can play 3rd?

I'd have to ask them to throw in Dontrelle for that price, too.

I wouldn't, it's Miguel Cabrera we're talking about here :)

That's a great idea but, I don't believe Hendry has the nerve or imagination to make such a deal(s). Better to hold on to the top prospects while watching other teams wheel and deal. Then come mid-February use a good portion of that FA money to sign the "obviously toolsy" Preston Wilson and Jacque Jones.

Oh.My.God.

Please lord give us Cabrara. Please?

Lee

Cabrara

ARam.

If they insist on Cano/Pie for Pierre who's a year away from free agency, they undoubtedly want half the team for Miggy. I don't see how a contender could afford him unless they would take loads of non plus players (like the Brewers pulled off with AZ).

They don't have many "non plus" players left now

Why not talk about willis? I have talked about this before. If willis and cabrera want to go, we have to offer an amazing package so we can get Pierre, Willis, and Cabrera. It's only the PERFECT fit. We need CF, RF and another starter. Willis, Pierre, and Cabrera bring us to the WS no doubt.
