  1. That was a funny no-hit bid. A few errors cost the Orioles a run there. Some of them might have been hits had the situation been different.....which got me thinking. A no-hit bid late in the game vs. a guy in the midst of a 30+ game hit streak. Who would get the benefit of the doubt between a close error/hit call by the official scorer? Whoever played for the home team. That would be my guess as well.
  2. The White Sox should be focusing on Juan Pierre instead.
  3. One guy that I work with went to high school and played baseball with Pedroia. I'm sure he'll be happy to hear this news.
  4. Hmm...Chicago Cubs or Champions League highlight show. I'll be back in 45 minutes.
  5. I watched part of the replay on ESPN last night when I got off of work and I couldn't believe that Auburn literally had the ball for the whole third quarter. But even with that South Carolina had a chance to win that game. South Carolina definately had a chance to get that game to overtime and I have to admit that I thought they would lose by 3 touchdowns. If there ever was a moral victory, this was it.
  6. Wow, a guy with a 6.02 ERA has 14 wins on the year. Unbelievable.
  7. The obvious answer to the question would have been ARam but if he was the answer, the question wouldn't have been asked. I didn't think it was Theriot though.
  8. and that shouldn't determine individual value. If someone argues that only players from playoff teams should be considered, I think it's entirely appropriate. Limiting it to players from playoff teams means you're (hopefully) trying to find the player who did the most to get his team there. That simply cannot be said for the Yankees. I agree. That was always my argument against a Yankee for MVP as well.
  9. They will. The question is whether or not they are going to open up the Mount Davis section in CF and sell tickets out there. If they open that up, then they might not. Also, with the A's likely to start up on the road and have Games 3 and, if necessary, 4 at home, they will likely have home games on Friday/Saturday/Sunday instead of Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday like they did in 2002 and 2003.
  10. I picked Missouri to beat Colorado this week so the Tigers better come through.
  11. I though he was the creator of South Park? That would be Trey Parker and Matt Stone.
  12. I'd call his 2003 great, without question. Not down in history great, but great nonetheless. As great as Zambrano last year. zambrano wasnt great last year either imo. we must have a different opinion on what "great" means. i look at some of the years pedro, maddux, clemens, johnson & sanatana have had and woods 2003 just looks like a very average year that a good pitcher would have. not a great year by any stretch imo. So by your definition, there's about 1 great pitcher per year. One could make a serious argument that Zambrano 2004 was better than Zambrano 2005.
  13. That stare down Frank Robinson had with the umpire was classic.
  14. Virginia Tech-Georgia Tech could be interesting. But yeah, not many good games this weekend.
  15. I was waiting for this question. As for an actual question: Len, what other broadcasters (for any sport but mainly baseball) do you enjoy listening to?
  16. Remember that dude? Unfortunately. Why?
  17. What is this winning thing the Cubs are doing now? I'm not used to it.
  18. No more than $1M as a base salary for a year. Let him earn more money/years with his on-field performance.
  19. Dunn strikes out 3 times against the Marlins today and is now at 190 for the season. The record is 195 and Dunn has 4 games to go. Here is his schedule: at Florida with Nolasco starting at Pittsburgh x3 with Zach Duke, Paul Maholm, and Ian Snell Here's hoping he can do it.
  20. I became a Cubs fan when I was just a kid Now that I’m an adult, I wonder why I did I wish I had the chance to pick a different team But that’s just a product of a Jack induced dream Fortunately for me, baseball season’s done Now I can concentrate on all the football fun I’ll save my money, for lots and lots of beer Because if I know the Cubs I’ll want to forget next year
  21. Why does everyone think Crawford would make a difference on the Cubs? This year he is having a career year, and he wouldn't even be an improvement over the Cubs current OF's. Crawford .303 BA/.345 OBP /835 OPS Jones .287 BA/ .335 OBP/ .839 OPS Murton .298 BA/ .365 OBP/ .811 OPS It seems like the Cubs already have 2 similar players in the OF. You conveniently left out the outfielder he would be replacing: Pierre: .291/.330/.390/.720 Crawford is only 25 so there is the potential for him to improve even more and his OPS has improved every year. I saw him listed as a LF on his stat page. Even considering there is a spot for him to fit in the OF, would you trade Rich Hill for Jacque Jones? Considering how much everyone complains about how bad Jones is and how big of a waste of money he was, it is interesting to see everyone clamouring for a guy that actually puts up worse numbers(outside of SBs). Jacque will turn 32 in April of next year. He's not likely to improve his numbers. Crawford could still imporve. Obviously you don't know whether Crawford will improve or not but I wouldn't be surprised if he did. And no I wouldn't trade Rich Hill for Jacque Jones right now.
  22. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h184/soccer10k/Pierre.jpg I love it. BTW It wouldn't let me put Pierre and 9 on the jersey so I picked 10.
  23. I just realized that Werder Bremen is ahead of Barcelona 1-0.
  24. Hat trick for Drogba.
