  1. I would love to have Bochy as well.
  2. When the Tigers beat the best lineup we'll ever see in our lifetime with superior pitching. (Getting ahead of myself, but Monroe just homered) Anything can happen is a short season. Yeah, but it's funny how often "Anything" happens in the postseason. The regular season is 162 games. Generally things will even out. In a best of 5 series, things don't have a chance to even out.
  3. I hope it works out like last week, when you picked Mizzou and Herbstreit went with Colorado. soccer10k: 2 Herbstreit: 0 ETA: I would also like to point out that in the Yahoo Pick Em League, I picked the final score of the game to be 35-21 (only off by three points). This follows the week in which my predicted score for OSU-Iowa was 38-17. Not to brag or anything. :^o
  4. If OU wins here, that cheat job in Oregon is going to be huge! Both Oregon and OU lose, doesn't matter anymore.
  5. Cal with the pick. GO BEARS!!
  6. Two straight pick 6's for Missouri. And the look on the faces of those two female Texas Tech fans captures it all.
  7. My top 5 is now: 1. Ohio St. 2. Florida 3. Michigan 4. West Virginia 5. USC
  8. Touchdown Texas!
  9. Ideal result: ARod goes 0-4 with 3 K's. The Yankees are down 1 going into the ninth and ARod either strikes out with the bases loaded or GIDP to end the game. I think he'd have to go into Witness Protection if that happened. As long as it's in Chicago.
  10. Go Gators.
  11. This is gonna take some tough tv remote work. Notre Dame-Stanford on NBC Oklahoma-Texas on ABC LSU-Florida on CBS Michigan St-Michigan on ESPN at 1:30 Washington-USC on FSN And there is also New York-Detroit game 4. I think I'm up to the challenge.
  12. Ideal result: ARod goes 0-4 with 3 K's. The Yankees are down 1 going into the ninth and ARod either strikes out with the bases loaded or GIDP to end the game.
  13. Or raising their level of play, so to speak.
  14. Auburn definately didn't look very good today. They're celebrating in West Virginia and Louisville right now.
  15. I don't think anyone is saying it's all his fault. The most common argument against him is that the Cubs simply don't have a use for him given his age, his weaknesses and how much money he'll command. He simply isn't a good fit for this team where they're at right now. Not to mention that if he loses a step, he'll be completely useless offensively.
  16. Corso picked us, Herbstreit picked Tech 6 PM can't come fast enough Should be interesting. Missouri is allowing the 10th fewest passing ypg while Tech gains the third most. Somethings gotta give. I picked Missouri.
  17. 17-7 Arkansas over Auburn right now.
  18. first off, i don't know why you wouldn't want wood back at a reasonable, incentive-laden deal. it's a virtual no risk/high reward situation. i'm all for those. i agree with adding zito, but there were two train wrecks on this team last season, pitching and offense. pitching is much more important than offense, so an appropriate amount more should be spent on it. When did pitching become "much more important" than offense?
  19. Sheffield will be a free agent which will take $13M off the books. Mussina has a $17M club option (1.5M buyout for 2007) and it's hard to see the Yankees picking that up. So right there you have almost $30M coming off the books. Are they looking to cut that much salary? With the trade you're proposing, even with the Yankees paying some of the contracts, that would mean the Yankees would be cutting somewhere from $40-50M worth of salary next year depending on how much money they give the Cubs.
  20. Ugh. Not Joe Morgan. It appears I won't be watching much of the Pads-Cards game unless the football games get out of hand.
  21. Haha. I have to miss the Oregon-Cal game because of work as well.
  22. You're right. Colorado paid $49M, Florida $23.5M and Atlanta $48.5M. But Colorado and Florida's obligations ended in 2005 (with the exception of the $20M team option/$6M buyout for 2009). Here is the contract: 8 years/$121M (01-08), plus $20M 09 club option - $20M signing bonus ($1M to charity, $19M deferred to 2009-18 at 3% interest) - 01:$8M, 02:$8.5M, 03:$11M, 04:$12M, 05:$12.5M, 06:$13.5M, 07:$14.5M, 08:$15M, 09:$20M club option $6M buyout - Colorado to pay $49M ($20M signing bonus, $8M in 2001, $8.5M in 2002, $2M in 2003, $2M in 2004, $2.5M in 2005, $6M buyout in 2009). - Florida to pay $23.5M ($7M of 2003 salary, $8M in 2004, $8.5M in 2005). - Atlanta to pay $48.5M ($2M of 2003 salary, $2M in 2004, $1.5M in 2005, $13.5M in 2006, $14.5M in 2007, $15M in 2008).
