  1. I don't know. There is a myth that Boras clients don't sign without. If the Cubs handed him a contract that was too good to refuse Who knows?
  2. The Cubs need to hire Schwarber's nutritionist for him.
  3. If the Cubs land Ohtani Tom may actually burst into flames.
  4. you're being intentionally obtuse. Going over the tax threshold at a higher level for one year is not the same as doing it for many years. It's why they might spend more with short term deals
  5. Ohtani = 50M for X years Soto +Hoskins + mystery picture = 50M for one year, $X for X years for mystery pitcher 2024 = 50M, 2025 and beyond = less than that, all things being equal ------------------- However, I'd be kind of pissed if Jed spent the capital to get Soto (because it is going to hurt regardless of one year or not) and didn't have a plan to resign him. That would not be ideal to say the least.
  6. Holy smacks, I'm not really an NBA fan but my son is a huge fan of Golden State. For his birthday/Christmas, I decided to get tickets for when they come to Atlanta. The prices for good seats are ridiculous. How does anyone afford to go to a game? Is there a secret code or something to get a fair price? Every ticket in the lower bowel was several hundred dollars.
  7. A lot going down on the ownership front today. As an aside, the company I work for is owned by the Carlyle Group. They have their hands in everything. And is example #3,000 of how profitable baseball is.
  8. Kyle does love him some snuff porn.
  9. holy horsefeathers. Just reading about him. I had no idea he was part of the O'Malley family
  10. Yes, he's got stuff to work on for sure. And the challenges will be different. If he rakes AND they need someone to play 3B AND he has the arm to play there he should be considered and not held back by some magical number of ABs he must have at each level. The Cubs haven't seen a batter this polished in a while. Probably not since Mark Grace. Also, I kind of believe the criticism is one based not on observation, but on expectation. He hasn't had to be patient because he's destroyed everything in his zone. Why take a walk when you can hit a double? But whatever, I agree. In theory, he will need to learn discipline. We don't know that he doesn't already. He walked more than he K'd his final year of college.
  11. Or trade candidates. It seems to me that they are going to have to package some of these dudes at some point. They are bottled up.
  12. Just judging on post-pandemic rosters (not necessarily the Cubs), AAA is now filled with retreads, roster stashes, and hangers on. The real talent seems to be AA. Guys who are true prospects are not spending a lot of time hanging out in AAA. If Shaw gets moved to AA, I don't think he's going to spend a lot time there.
  13. NSBB is back baby! Pedantry is a beautiful thing! I like Hicks and don't mind the price tag. I think the Cubs probably disagree.
  14. Yes, he may go 1.1 depending on who gets the pick. I could see a team trading up to get him. He's that good.
  15. I have high hopes for this kid. I worry about an arm injury. again.
  16. If Shaw stays on trajectory I would not be the least bit surprised if he's starting at 3B around or after the ASB. It's more aggressive than usual for the Cubs, but they appear to be balls out right now (get your mind out of the gutter, I'm talking about a steam engine). Madrigal might start, but at some point in the cold spring, he's going to have a leg issue. Also, LOL, Madrigal's noodle arm and windup throw to third preclude him from any consideration for a gold glove. He's not a 3rd baseman.
  17. It's called the Soriano Method (TM).
  18. who knows, but he plays better defense and he's going to produce more runs.
  19. I thought it was from the running backs coach they fired.
  20. It's a pie-shaped disk!!!! The truth hurts. Sheeple
  21. what are the leaks?
  22. That is a strong, doom boner post. My prediction is that the Bears are in the game but lose by a touchdown. Fields looks like Fields, which is to say, he holds the ball too long and somewhat makes up for it with his scrambling ability. Maybe has a few long passes to Moore, maybe a touchdown or two. But clearly, he isn't getting better. The defense holds the Lions down enough that it's a lower scoring game.
  23. He's a better and more useful player than Happ is right now.
  24. Giving Happ that extension and NTC looks worse and worse every day.
