    I think you treat those sites as rough estimates. I wouldn’t get too caught up in it. Pushing a model to its breaking point isn’t indicative of its usefulness or lack there of. However, I’m almost certain some here or elsewhere will use it as gospel.

    From my non-scouting perspective, Morel’s issues are throwing related and not catching related. I don’t know which is more fixable My point here is that many seem to be short selling him. Most of his contemporaries are still in AAA and AA. That kind of talent is worth a lot. Also, defense metrics still aren’t worth a whole lot when most positions are bunched inside .5 standard deviation. In other words outside of glaring outliers they all are about the same.

    No other innings he’s played matter. Certainly not the three years he played I. The upper minors. also, those metrics are about as reliable as a 1980 Lada. Also, DH is a position.

    Trading Morel should only be done for a marquee player. Right now he’s the most productive hitter on the team. I really don’t understand the perception on here that Morel can’t play defense. Besides this year where they were moving him all over the place to start the season he’d been mostly adequate at 2nd and 3rd. People act like he’s easily expendable.

    I did not get to see him this year when the Smokies played in Montgomery, but the previous year I saw him in SB several times. I don’t know if it was the uniform but he didn’t exactly look athletic. Tall yes, wide hips, rather narrow shoulders, I was stuck by his appearance. maybe he’s filled out in year. I do not agree he’s a better prospect then Alcantara, I like he cut down the strikeouts. I love the power. If he can be traded for a difference makes, I’d do it and take my chances.

    Absolutely. Teams are going to get an idea what he’s looking for and make him an offer based on that. Multiple teams will meet his demands and then he’ll pick what he believes is the best fit for him. Each team might have different sweeteners, but the important part will be the same.

    What he is saying is all the offers are going to be more or less the same and it will be Ohtani choosing where he wants to go. I believe that too, for the most part. He might have a lower AAV but longer offer with one team. A higher AAV with opt outs from another and so on, but all of them will be similar. he might look at all of them and then say to the team he wants to go to, “give me this and we have a deal”. It probably won’t be all about the money, but the buy in just to talk will be ridiculous.

    I hate the Cardinals with a red hot passion, but Ozzie and Honus Wagner are considered to be the two best defensive SS ever. He belongs in the HOF. I remember watching him as a kid and not believing what I saw. And on astroturf.

    Love him as a prospect. Raisin seems to think it may take him a little longer to develop. I hope the Cubs give him that time. I know some people like him better as a trade target. The swing and miss is a big concern. If the Cubs make a big trade, he will likely be involved.

    I still don't see it from the Blue Jays perspective. I'd love to know which side the leak is coming from. If it's the Blue Jays who are leaking this, it could be a real sign they are looking to deal. If it's the Cubs side... someone is trying to sell tickets. It's very unusual for Jed's team to let this stuff leak out. Not so much for the operations team.

    Who replaced Tommy Boy with a look-alike who doesn't mind thinking big? I want to give that person a medal.

    If Yamamoto gets a 10-year $250 million contract he will be tied for 7th in terms of AAV in all of baseball for pitchers. And it will be the 2nd richest total contract ever signed for a pitcher. Using Cole's contract as a measuring stick is irresponsible as it is the largest contract ever signed in MLB history.
