  1. Quite a dilemma. They currently playing without a defensive coordinator or a running backs coach because both were fired or resigned for undisclosed reasons. I'm going to have to give the nod to Trestman here.
  2. Scott Boars talking out of his ass is not a weighty piece of evidence.
  3. I want Eloy back too.
  4. I did a Google search and the only thing I'm seeing is the Dodgers and they are also linked to Adamas. My question why would the Blue Jays be looking to get rid of him? It's highly unlikely he will come to the Cubs to play 3B.
  5. lol, athletes not wanting to play in California due to taxes. And then choosing to play in a high-tax state like PA or NY. They're not playing in the Bahamas. Makes as much sense as politicians in Alabama talking about why they landed a manufacturer.
  6. I want to believe that if they commit to Ohtani their past behavior is irrelevant, sort of. I do think Ohtani and the Cubs are going to get protection with out-clauses. It is very out of character for them to actually go through with signing him. They bid for him, but how serious a bid it was is not known. It's out of character for them based on their stated positions regarding building a team. I'm still very skeptical. If they make the commitment and sign him, I will keep my mouth shut about their commitment to winning.
  7. If the Bears are in a positon to have 1 and 2 Fields will have played himself out of a job
  8. They certainly have earned it with Horton and Wicks.
  9. Awesome. But Derwood finally having a point is even better. It's such a damning set of data for this head coach and the GM who brought him in.
  10. I mean he's going to get a contract in the range of $200M. If that's an indication of where our society is going related to all the stuff you think you are 10-dimensional chessing about, you are obviously wrong. Who cares what some random white dude thinks about it? The man is going to get paid.
  11. You do know that "Boomers" are all septuagenarians and octogenarians now? they are dying off by the thousands every day. It's on us Gen Xers now. And I'm very disappointed in us. Edit: I think you are batshit.
  12. They have a bunch of nice players and pitchers to shop for, but I'd rather not with Amaya. The Cubs have nothing there in the pipeline. Don't give me that horsefeathers about Moises until he drops 40 pounds.
  13. you know that's what they are going to do though.
  14. he's the 1/2.
  15. At this point, I don't think Wiggins can even be considered a starter. Half the time he was used out of the pen in college. He's a lottery ticket.
  16. Just playing devil's advocate, they can get similar slugging numbers far cheaper.
  17. Michigan over OSU - then over whoever in the Big10 title game Alabama over Georgia in the title game Washington wins out west Georgia or OSU will be the fourth team. Michigan (1) vs Georgia/OSU (4) Washington (2) vs Alabama (3) Right now, I kind of like Alabama. If things play out that way, I don't know how they'd pick from OSU or GA. Maybe if FSU wins out. but how they win without Travis is a question.
  18. Good sign by the Cardinals. I expect them to have a huge bounce-back year. Not so sure about Marmol though, I figured they would have fired him by now.
  19. I really like McMahon, but I think the price would be a little steeper than the rest of the names. Anyway, I like Wisdom ok enough. He's going to win some games. He used to have a pretty decent glove too. I'm not sure what happened. I think lack of regular playing time. It's hard to do that when he goes into a death spiral.
  20. I agree with both of you. It's hard to measure pitchability - and Wicks has that. His changeup is devastating. It's an out pitch and doesn't really rely on movement per say. Having Hendricks on the team is going to be great for him. They are very similar pitchers.
  21. We kind of hit on that in the college football thread. In general, the talent coming out of college is mediocre. Maybe mediocre isn't the right word, but more equal. The result is a small standard deviation of talent.
