Somehow, if both are healthy, I think Wood's stuff is better than Burnett's.

Burnett's career average is just that - average. In their best years, Kerry's ius better by nearly 4 K/9 :shock:

I originally wanted Burnett to sign with the Blue Jays because I wanted the Cardinals to overpay for another pitcher. Then I realized that Burnett is just a wilder Kerry Wood who is also injury prone. They'll pay him for five years and he'll probably pitch for three and a half. Excellent.

When Wood is healthy he can be flat out dominant. No doubt about it.

I'll still be very happy if the Cards sign Burnett. Great way to break in the new stadium.

I am not all that old, but Wood's 20K game in 1998 was easily the single most dominating pitching performance I have ever seen. That was a no hitter with a official scoring error.

Burnett throws a little bit harder than Wood now. Burnett has a much better anti-HR profile and is an much more extreme ground ball pitcher. Burnett has similar breaking stuff to Wood. Burnett has a plus changeup; Wood doesn't.
