OK here it is. I have been around some high end college athletes from several different schools. The one thing that I have come to understand is it is just who gets caught. I will admit that I have never been around any of Charlie Weiss's kids at ND but I have no illusions that money is not going into their hands. I will say this about Mich St, Ohio St, Mich, illinios and any other big time college program and I will certainly not leave out ND. Is Charlie Weiss doing it, probably not but some booster probably is. I also dont think Jim Tressel is doing it but some booster probably is.

If for some reason you think that ND is on some higher moral playing ground than OSU I would recommend coming down. Most Mich fans thought the same way until the incedent with the BB team. It most certainly could happen to ND football also. If you dont believe me next season before a ND home game go to the players parking lot and see what they are driving. I would venture to say the same Lexuses that Maurice Clarett was driving. Leased to some booster I would bet also.

Way to take a little joke and blow it way out of proportion. OSU has had a lot said recently about their violations. As did Tressel at his previous job, Youngstown I think. It was a joke based on that. Nothing to do with my putting ND on a higher moral ground. But now that you mention it I would put most teams above OSU or FSU, not just ND. Perhaps I don't know all the high end college athletes that you do, so I am not as privileged to the inside info. I just go off of what gets reported in the news and by the NCAA, hence my making a JOKE about Tressel. Sorry it offended you.

Just got back from the game, I only saw 1 colorado fan at the game outside of the band and the parents section next to the game. The entire stadium was orange and the game was over once they announced the teams onto the field.

Reggie Bush should win the Heisman, and Vince Young should come back next season .

Texas v USC will be the most anticipated game in a very long time. Vince Young gets all the credit, but they have a ton of weapons people don't talk about that are very similar to USC's all-around offense.

That's what it was like last year in KC, too. I didnt see one Colorado fan there the entire time, Im pretty sure they dont have fans or something.

I really didnt take it personnal. Sorry if it came off as preachy or anger or something. I just know that there is alot of money going into big time college FB and BB players hands. I dont think its the coaches in most cases but over-zealous booster. I am just under no illusion that my favorite school is any better than OSU or FSU. Those schools have just had players caught doing stupid things. Heck even Illinois had a player caught taking payments this year.

The funny thing is that I think the players deserve to get a little cut of the 15 million for going to a BCS game. I actually wish they would do it in the open instead of under the table were who knows what kind of crook may be paying them. The guy who was paying the Mich BB players was a bookie. Do you really think he was paying them because he loved Michigan BB. Those Michigan teams played more close games to Wright St than you could imagine. HHMMM

No problem. Been a bad day, sorry if I'm a bit touchy. They do get rewards from the Bowl for going. They talked about it on ESPN today. Xboxs, Ipods, etc.

Didn't NCAA consider an idea that would pay players more than tuition and their allowances? I think the argument was that a free education is reward enough.

On another note, anyone know when the Heisman candidates will be announced?

why would colorado fans go to houston to see a mediocre team get annihilated? Lets see, spend $1000 to go to houston and get humiliated or go snowboarding on 4 feet of fresh powder?

those all seem a little high.

Georgia moved to -9, and PSU went to 8. I am sure they will move quite a bit in the next month.

The over/under for the Rose Bowl is 71!

So my completely in jest 83 over/under for the Sun Bowl might actually be true? [/b]

Opening lines for the BCS bowls

OSU -5.5

PSU -9

Georgia -7

USC -6

I'm not a betting man but if I were I'd lay a lot of money on ND on that spread.

NUN, have you ever considered the possibility that most of these athletes come from fairly well-to-do families? Also, what of parents who might buy their children cars as a congratulations gift or as a joke thanks for not making them pay for their college?

I have also heard of families taking out loans based on the guaranteed future wealth of their child. I believe that is how Lebron got his hummer.

Also worth noting that I read a ESPN article on Leinart saying he pretty much lived in a dump with 3 roommates, and drove some old POS car. I was about a year ago though, so it may have changed. I like Leinart (that hurt to say).

I don't mind Leinart. It makes him a lot more tolerable to think about where the respective QBs might be 5 years from now.

Leinart drove a POS car!?!? Wow, his folks live in a $5 million house in the OC.

I thought that a 5 million dollar house in the OC only had 2 bedrooms and a bath?

That sounds about right for Orange County

Here is the existing state of affairs in the ACC if your school is not located in the Tobaccer belt:

Georgia Tech (23) went 7-4/5-3, beating two Top Ten opponents on the road. They go to the Emerald Bowl against the 4th place team in the Mtn West: Utah.

Boston College (19) went 8-3/5-3, beating Clemson, Virginia, and NC State in conference. They will go to Boise and play a road Bowl Game against Boise State on the smurf field.

Then, the travesty really begins:

NC State 6-5/3-5 plays at home in North Carolina at the Car Bowl against S. Florida. Their fans could hitchhike to the game if they wanted to.

Virginia 6-5/3-5 plays just a few hours away in Nashville at the Music City Bowl against Minnesota --- a quality Big Ten opponent.

My parents live in an amazing house, and I drive a 91 buick. Parents being rich does not mean their kids are rich. However like I said, it was what I read in ESPN magazine. Don't know if it is true or not, just passing along something I read.

HOLY COW WE GOT A CORNERBACK!

3-star cover corner Justan Vaughn from Pearland, Texas. He chose us over Texas Tech. It's like Christmas came early for the Wildcats. I didn't think we'd ever be able to land a corner. Lost out on Womack and Dorrestein, but a very good weekend of recruiting for us.

Pat Fitzgerald was one heck of a linebacker and now he's one heck of a coach and head recruiter. And hopefully in the not-too-distant future, he'll be one heck of a head coach for Northwestern.

Notre Dame got voted anywhere from #3 (Texas A&M coach) to #13 (Spurrier)

Check out Larry Blakeny's ballot! WTF?

Paterno gets no votes?
