Next week is a big game for Kyle. I must say that I was really encouraged by what I saw, though.

The offensive line really stepped up, too, so hopefully they can repeat the success next week.

Agreed on all levels. Orton showed me something today. I had been saying Grossman should come back and start, but after watching the first half I dont think so. Ortons numbers in the 1st half w/out those dropped balls would have been really good. We dont need out QB to win games, they just cant make the mistakes. If you take out Kyles game against Cincy he has had us in a position to win every game. I blame the Cinci game on Ron Turner because his play calling was horrible that game. I think after that game Turner has seen just how much he can give Kyle and has done a good job with him. By the time the playoffs start I think Kyle could be pretty special. This kid is a rookie playing in Chicago and has us at 7-3 WOW

I'll be rooting for you guys the rest of the way. This Bears team reminds me a lot of the 2003 Panthers, and that's obviously a good sign. The Bears have a very solid team, and if they can come with it against Tampa and the Falcons like they did today, we could see HFA for the Bears.

Good luck to the Panters the rest of the way too. We will prob need their help with them knocking some teams off for us.

By the way how is a tie breaker for HFA? Is it points allowed?

pretty sure its head-to-head then its record in the conference.

I mean what if the Bears and Giants tie who has home field advantage throughout?

this is according to NFL.com on how to sort a tiebreaker:

Two Clubs

1. Head-to-head, if applicable.

2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.

3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.

4. Strength of victory.

5. Strength of schedule.

6. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.

7. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.

8. Best net points in conference games.

9. Best net points in all games.

10. Best net touchdowns in all games.

11. Coin toss.

I wonder if they've ever gone beyond 6

I remember in Week 17 back in the 2000 season, Carolina and New Orleans took it to tiebreaker number 4, so we had to scoreboard-watch while trying to beat the opponent (not sure who it was). NO ended up winning the tiebreaker, but Dallas, who had the tiebreaker on us and the Saints, later won to bring an anticlimactic end to that.

A few years ago (I forget when, but maybe 2000) if things had worked out right in the last week green bay would need to have outscored its opponent by 40 points or something to get into the playoffs.

I'm as much of a Bears-head as the next Chicagoan, but I think da Bears are get their arses handed to them on Sunday.

I hate to say it, but it is JMHO.

Yum, yum :eats crow:, that was tastiest crow I've ever eaten. I'll have the leftovers on Thanksgiving. :D

The Bears had more return yards (Kickoffs, punts, and interceptions) than offensive yards, apparently.

that seems weird since they only had 2 kickoffs returned for 26 yards total, 3 yards on punt returns, and 68 yards for the int returns.

258 yards passing/rushing, btw

Apparently I misheard that, then. Doesn't work if it was passing OR rushing, either. Anyone else watching GNL?

This has nothing to do with the Bears, but it does have something to do with the Vikings and I thought it was pretty funny. From the Tribune.

The Vikings remain the Bears' closest challenger in the NFC North. They have won two games in a row, but as they go to Green Bay on Monday night, left guard Chris Liwienski has been benched in favor of San Diego castoff Toniu Fonoti.

When Fonoti joined the Vikings on Oct. 18, he weighed 404 pounds. His promotion reflects the continuing problems Tice has had with his offensive line.

"Does he know the offense? No," Tice said of Fonoti. "But what is the difference right now based on what I'm seeing on tape [of Liwienski]? We might as well throw him in there and see how it goes."

Seriously, the Vikings organization right now is pathetic.

And if after all this a clear winner still does not emerge, a three legged potato sack race will be held on consecutive Mondays to determine the champion.

Not true. The kicker toss for distance comes before the 3 leg race.

i didn't see anyone mention this: the screen to smith in which he burned peanut, did anyone notice who ran smith down from behind? everyone's favorite middle linebacker. it's plays like that that make urlacher who he is--the best MLB in the game.

the announcers were saying that smith runs like a 4.2, that's got to put him up there among the fastest guys in football. amazing one-armed tackle on urlacher's part, if he doesn't get him, the game's complexion might have been changed quite a bit.

That was a great play. I thought Smith was going to score before Urlacher came in.

I think the play of the game may have been Chris Harris pass defended in the endzone. Not only was it a great play, but it looked like it saved a touchdown which could have changed the complexion of the game. Fantastic play.

yeah, i'm sold on harris now, he's not just a great hitter but can play a little pass defense too. a steal in the 6th round. that play scared the heck out of me.

Urlacher is having a fantastic season. I've been one to say he hasn't earned a lot of the hype/coverage that he's gotten in his career. He's blow that criticisim away with his play this season. He's clearly headed to another Pro Bowl and show be at the front of the Defensive Player of the Year Award discussion.

I like the fact that Urlacher (2 tackles), Hillenmeyer, and Briggs were pretty much no shows b/c the D-line dominated all game long. Our LBs didn't play badly, but they didn't need to step up and make lots of plays b/c of all the pressure on Delhomme. The line forced those picks, got 8 sacks, and forced two fumbles. We could have had a couple more picks too.

yeah, it really killed a lot of the criticism i've had regarding the line.

i've stood by alex brown for a long time now, and he's ready to step into the limelight as one of the best DE's in football.

I can't believe how incredibly wrong I was about this game. I would have bet on the Panthers and given the points without much hesitation. The Bears had a chance of course, but I assumed Carolina would still win. I really had no idea the DLine had that kind of game in them.

Unbelievable dominance.

I had already started my "oh no" scream when he flew in and knocked it away

exactly, for me, it started out as a "oh" of pain, but ended up as an "oh" of joy.

I've been convinced of that since last year when he ran down Portis in the open field.
