Yet every year in the tournament, with non acc refs they seem to lose.

But Galloway's drive to the basket was thwarted by Williams, and despite replays that clearly showed the ball going out of bounds off Williams, the Blue Devils were given possession.

Surprise, surprise, surprise

Mizzou humiliates themselves in the first half, falling down 22 at the intermission. Gardner gets benched in the second half, and the lead gets cut to 8 before they run out of steam. Not looking good at all. If they drop the Baylor game, I don't think anything short of a sweep of the B12 tourney with a Sweet Sixteen would save Snyder.

Nothing should save him at this point. I'm not a Snyder hater, in fact I really like him. I think the recruiting violations really messed him up. However at this point I think you have to start over.

Memories are short. People on the edge of the argument got pushed into the Fire Snyder camp after the Illinois fiasco(helped by lackluster performances against Davidson and Sam Houston St.), but were back on his bandwagon after the strong start to the B12 season. Not that I'm saying it's at all likely that we do any of that, but winning the tourney and making it to the second weekend of the Big Dance would probably cement his job for next year.

Speaking of coaches that should be fired, Tim Buckley continues to hold a clinic on how NOT to run an offense as Ball State loses a pathetic home game to an exceptionally bad Eastern Michigan team. Somehow, Tim doesn't seem to gather that passing the ball around the perimeter for 25 seconds then trying to drive and force up a shot doesn't usually work. 7-12 and 3-8 in MAC play for BSU, and 0-4 for ND and BSU combined this week. :x

UCLA beats Arizona 84-73 for their first sweep of the Wildcats since 1996-1997. Arron Afflalo broke out of his shooting slump.

Washington loses its 3rd in a row, 77-64 at WSU. WSU has 3 Pac-10 wins, 2 of them against U-Dub.

Following their upset over Arizona, USC loses to last-place ASU at home, 68-65.

Any interesting denials of favorable treatment?

I missed the beginning of Bilas's bit, but he went off on how the end of the BC game was a bad call, but that it was isolated. He was getting kinda upset, with the "unless someone can step forward with empirical evidence or a coach steps up" bit, even though I'm pretty sure there is said evidence that Duke gets calls. Vitale blabbered about how they get all the good players, which makes no sense. He also said that they always slash and attack the basket, which to my brief knowledge appears wrong as well. Phelps hardly said anything.

Is UCLA the only tourney team out there? Can Cal get in?

Despite losing to Wazzou today, it's hard to see Washington missing the tourney.

Yea, but they've had some losses lately. If they keep playing this way they could end up short of 20 wins. Without 20 wins and an unimpressive end of the season, its conceivable they get left out. Not likely I agree though. Boy, Iowa just pasted Michigan. They could win the Big Ten.

What really annoys me about Duke are the flops they do taking a charge under the basket. The ACC refs give it to them way too many times among other calls of course.

I just hate flops in general. There is nothing more frustrating as a basketball fan than to watch your guy play well but get called for a foul because the other guy decides to be an actor. Especially because the officials invariably turn around and call the same play against your team a minute and a half later.

Besides UCLA, Cal and Washington will probably get in. Stanford might have a chance too (though they probably have to win the Pac-10 to get in).

Jayhawks with a 16 pt comeback to beat OU at home. Heck of a game.

Indeed. It was a good game. OU let up too early though, and it showed. They seemed relaxed, and all of a sudden, whamo! KU is back in business.

AP[/url]"]GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Referees who worked the Florida State-Duke game were given a one-game suspension for an unnecessary technical foul on a Seminoles' player, the Atlantic Coast Conference said Monday.

The crew of Mike Eades, Ray Natili and Ed Corbett shouldn't have assessed a technical foul to Florida State's Alexander Johnson in the second half of Duke's 97-96 overtime win on Saturday, said John Clougherty, ACC coordinator of men's basketball officials.

Posted

"There were two intentional fouls called on Florida State center Alexander Johnson, and the second led to double technicals on him and Williams. That was Johnson's fifth personal, sending him to the bench for the final 9 minutes of regulation."

That's all I could find in the ESPN recap.

It must've been a pretty horrible call though, refs are never disciplined.
