Just want to pipe in to remind everyone that my DePaul Blue Demons lost to lowly Providence and are now 8-9 (1-4). Yes, we suck butt.

That is all.

First year in a very competitive conference for DePaul. I think it'll only help in the long run.

Yep...no Purdues or Penn States to beat up on in this league.

For every Purdue, PSU, or Northwestern, there's a Providence, South Florida, or Depaul.

I submit that DePaul would destroy any of those three Big 10 teams listed.

Don't fret Derwood, at least you beat us - at a game I was at. :x

DePaul beat Northwestern by 10 at home earlier in the year.

I'd consider Seton Hall-Providence-DePaul-South Florida about the same set of teams as Minnesota-Penn State-Northwestern-Purdue. All are teams that (aside form USF or Purdue) might occasionally sneak up and beat someone in the upper tier of the league, but have no business doing so.

The major difference between the leagues is that the Big Ten has 6 very good teams, 1 good team and 4 bad teams, while the Big East has 6 very good teams, 2 good teams, 4 average teams, and 4 bad teams. Both conferences, along with the ACC, will comprise likely 1/3 of all tournament teams this year, barring significant team changes among the quality teams this year.

Awesome game but noticed a couple of things. First after Gardner tied it with 5.6 to go KU inbounds it and dribbles twice before the clock started again. Nice job home clock operator. Second referees are told to never make a call on a last second play to determine the game. Especially on a clean block. For a minute I thought that game was being played at the PHOG.

I just watched the game (i've been working a ton and had it taped). How can you call that a clean block? Moody got hammered. Not that it mattered.

I can't believe we gave that game away. Self cost us that one. You tell your kids explicitly, "Don't shoot until ten seconds are left in the clock." But were just jacking it up. Unbelievable. We should be undefeated in conference. Instead we're 2-2 with losses to our two biggest rivals. We've got our work cut out for us if we want to make the tourney now.

self's not a great in-game coach. he'll do something with those recruits, though, provided that they stay for a couple years.

and moody DID get hammered. you'd think a 3-4 time academic all-american could develop some type of consistent and repeatable free-throw shooting form. it's not that hard.

Ok try and follow me with this. If Self keeps all of those kids there with Collins, I think he might be able to win it all. That said I don't see it happening. I think Rush goes pro after this year. But if he doesn't, he comes back at the 3. That pretty much assures that Downs is gone. But, Collins is his 1. Robinson will be a junior and will have to play. In a lot of ways Chalmers is his best player. All three of those guys are gonna play. So if Rush stays I guess Wright becomes his 5, if he can beat out the three MCDAAs KU has in Giles, Kaun, and Jackson. What a mess. Why did Bill recruit all of those kids at the same position in the same year? I will never be able to figure that out.

First--Kaun, DJ, and Giles weren't McD's.

As for a rotation next year. I'm not sure what Rush will do. 2 weeks ago, I thought he was gone. Now, I'm not sure. He's been real hit or miss. So he might stay, and if he does, there will still be plenty of room for Downs. We could have a 9-man rotation as follows.

1. Robinson/Collins

2. Chalmers

3. Rush/Downs

4. Jackson/Wright

5. Kaun/Giles

If Rush goes, which is still the more likely scenario, this would be the rotation, w/ Wright playing 3/4:

1. Robinson/Collins

2. Chalmers

3. Downs/Wright

4. Jackson/Wright

5. Kaun/Giles

Case, Morningstar, and Stewart would probably fight for the last spot.

Either way, I don't see any scenario where Wright plays the 5, and I think we also have to expect Collins to be eased into the game.

As for why Self recruits so many players, that's simple. One, many of the players he recruits can play multiple positions. (Collins, Chalmers, Robinson can all play 1 and 2. Downs, Rush, and Wright are not locked into any one position.) Two, recruiting isn't an exact science. Sometimes a guy flames out or transfers or goes pro or sucks. If you put all your eggs in that basket, you're screwed if he flops. If you have multiple guys who can fill in, you've covered yourself and your team better. It's simple recruiting, and most of the premier programs do it.

NOT ANY MORE!!! Downs just left KU.

That is 7 in 2 and 1/2 years. I guess now Bill can go after Rose as he has another scholly open. I told ya three guys that good at one position in one class is just plain ignorant.

Here's hoping that the Illini can out-recruit Slick Willie for Rose, there's a fairly long standing, good relationship between Simeon and Illinois. Benn Wilson (probably), Nick Anderson, Calvin Brock and I know I'm missing others, let's hope that counts for something with Rose.

I remember reading somewhere that Rose is letting his brother handle his recruitment, instead of his AAU and HS coaches. His brother has ties to Louisville and another school(Memphis?), which seemed to imply he may be headed there instead of staying in state, which might have happened if his coaches were still in the picture. IIRC, this info was from an Illinois fan at a MSU board.

If Slick Willie comes into the picture that other school will magically morph from Memphis to Kansas, no doubt…

DERWOOD! I didn't know you were a Blue Demon too! I recently graduated, they were still Conference USA when I was there. C-USA was fun, but I wish they would've switched the Big East when I was there though. I would've loved to compete with those teams for a change.

DePaul happens to be in a rebuilding year, which is understandable. Two years ago they won the C-USA regular season title (over Louisville, Cincy, Marquette, etc), last year they were a bubble team that blew it at the end. This year they have a new coach, and no real scorers or shooters outside of Sammy Mejia. (although I will say some of these young guys look like they're going to be really good. Chandler especially) Give them a few years, they'll be back to decent form. They already beat Wake Forest when they were #16 this year, and then beat Notre Dame, who they always struggle with. They just keep on losing the close ones that they should win.

At least the Blue Demon women are tearing it up. Ranked 10th right now (until the new rankings come out anyway)

i heard that Chandler left the team...if this is true, that would be a big loss for DePaul because he was a pretty big recruit last year.

Last time I talked to anyone from the sports information office, he was only suspended. Not sure why, or for how long. But that was a few days ago, so he may have left the team. I sure hope not though, he's a really good player.

Ball State crushed Central Michigan tonight, no big surprise as the Chippewas are terrible. 68-41 was the final.

ND is currently in double OT with Georgetown, trailing 79-78 with 4 minutes left.

ND gets 3 shots at their final shot, and Falls, Kurz and McAlarney all miss.

ND has now lost 5 conference games by a total of 20 points. :x

NIU blows a 15 point lead with 6 minutes left and loses by 1 to Toledo. A 6 man on the court Technical foul was pretty big on us...very stupid loss tonight.

Southern Illinois beat Creighton and extended their nation leading home court winning streak to 33 games.

Wow, Toledo is awful. Of course, the whole MAC West is awful. On Saturday BSU was 0-5 in conference - on Thursday they could move to 2nd place in the MAC West by beating W. Michigan.

Well we all have to now or else the NCAA will punish the schools. What a joke, at this point they should just quit the farce and start paying the kids.

Mizzou gets the crap kicked out of them at home by Iowa St. Just dismal on all accounts. For those curious, Snyder got T'ed up partway through the second half(to give you an idea of the officiating, both teams were in the double bonus before the 10:00 mark), then got another T right before the end of the game.
