Huston Street (Closer - Athletics) in the AL

Ryan Howard (1B - Phillies) in the NL

Both the correct choices.

I'm not nearly as hard on Dusty as most around here, but I hope he paid attention to the fact that both ROY winners this year (and half the top 3 vote getters in each league) are the sole products of managers willing to gamble on rookie replacements for the "veteran" that went down with injury.

Had Murton or Cedeno had the playing time, it's entirely possible either of their names might have surfaced as top 5 vote getters.

ya prolly the best choices. I would have went with Francouer if he didnt fall off the last few weeks of the season though.

Put me down for the idea that he won't get back up there. I think that was just one long freak accident. Dude can't walk.

Francouer will be fine. All he has to do is walk 60 times a season to be on average, he's a good enough player to pull that off eventually.

Yeah, they got it right. Both were on my fantasy team, too.

Both Murton and Cedeno will still have rookie status next year, if I'm correct, since neither exceeded 150 at bats. Here's to seeing Murton make a run for ROY in 06...although I wouldn't be disappointed if he looses it to Ronny.

I'm pretty sure both Murton and Ronny exceeded the big-league time requirement for being a rookie, but since Dusty never played them you didn't notice...

Maybe, but there is nothing in his minor league record to suggest he is really capable of being truly a patient hitter. If I were to hazard a guess, his best case projection is Raul Mondesi. Not a bad player, but no future superstar.

Agreed that he'll make the adjustments needed, but until he does, I think he'll struggle.

Dude, they clog the bases for when Macias and Neifi get all their XBH's.
