How can you hate Craig Biggio! Blasphemy. Look up baseball player in an encyclopedia and there's Craig.

 

I just have a dislike for a player who leans into pitches with the benefit of an extremely large elbow pad. If he could take all those HBP without use of the pad, I might have more respect for him.

The following were players whose baseball cards I didn't look forward to finding in packs when I was a kid:

 

Sid Fernandez - "massive" talent, my eye

 

Tom Henke - this guy looked like he belonged in a laboratory, not on the diamond

 

Wade Boggs - totally dissed me at Tiger Stadium after I waited forever for an autograph with my dad. Wade went straight for a couple of hotties, signed their stuff, and left on his bus despite me and my dad pleading for a signature (he had been one of my favorite players)

 

Juan Gonzales - total punk. He was supposed to be the savior of the Tigers (I'm originally from Michigan), but that's when he decided to start sucking.

 

Billy Ripken - the untalented brother. Although his '89 Fleer error card was a fun one to find!

 

 

 

And the players I currently dislike or disrespect:

 

Robert Fick - bushleague.

 

A Rod - see above.

 

Moises Alou - cry baby.

 

Alex Gonzales - butter fingers under pressure.

 

Jeff Kent - looks like a tool.

 

Curt Schilling - amazing player, but he says WAY too much.

 

Randy Johnson - overrated.

I forgot to mention the ROtY snubbing. Although with the way Gracie handles himself now, maybe it's for the better ol' four-eyes got the award.

 

I agree with the people who are abstaining from including Neifi/Macias - they play hard, and I would at least keep Neifi on my bench for next year. We're talking about selfish, obnoxious players.

 

Not to hijack my own thread, but what do you all think of T.O. getting suspended by the Eagles today? Assuming Bonds was in the same situation in some hypothetical world, and wanted to come to the Cubs part of a trade. Would you accept such a dangerous player onto the Cubs? Furcal, to a lesser extent, also flies in the face of the "happy-face Cubbies".
