  1. Did you root for Starlin the last few years? Honestly I never felt genuinely comfortable with him being a Cub after that. I'm glad they traded him. What was the Starlin situation? I don't recall any off field stuff, just an abrupt performance drop-off when there were a lot of new SS options coming around.
  2. Yeah, that was a very entertaining grantland article: http://grantland.com/features/mlb-transaction-trees/
  3. Does anyone have any recollection of what the cause was for his original KC contract being voided? I didn't realize that was the case until seeing that tonight.
  4. Sorry if it's already been discussed, but didn't see any of the more recent replies remarking on the potential compensation. While I understand some sort of compensation would be required for Epstein, the majority of the packages I've seen thrown out just seem too pricey for my liking. Personally I would find the price too high if it cost either of Garza or Castro. Also saw a Cashner & Jackson package suggested - that's pretty steep too considering the low count of quality players we have at this time. What do people think the cost would be to pry Epstein & how does that compare to what you feel would still result in a solid win in the transaction for the Cubs?
  5. This is from a Sully article in today's Trib. I hope to God that we didn't back out of a possible AGon deal solely because we refused to trade Cashner. second that. we're cheap & we're holding back on a real haul for someone who hasn't at all put it together to be a meaningful piece of the future equation? I hope there was some misinterpretation behind that statement from the Trib. guess I should take a cue from Lou & give Ricketts & these well founded approaches more time. maybe then next off-season we can latch onto another B-ish prospect at the expense of a player we need. Weak.
  6. I thought for sure they did one a few years back. When Mike Morgan threw the first pitch of the game with the old time windup. Was that a road game? Holy crap I totally forgot about that. I think that was a road game though. I remember when that happened, it was awesome I don't remember the uniforms involved, but Fox did a Cubs/Dodgers game a few years back that was turn back the clock broadcasting.
  7. or is it off the wagon?
  8. the related Bill Murray & Steve Stone broadcast clips are good watches also.
  9. what an unappealing ball player. wasn't his name involved with a Jacque Jones to O's offer/rumor/the like (as in what O's preferred to send back if we were looking to purge him for 'anything')? plenty of guys already in the system that would seem to be better uses of roster space.
  10. LMAO!             I don't follow that one, but the first name is Alex rather than Alez. Duran Duran nothing wrong with some Duran Duran

  12. the visiting jays fan has wiped his forehead for the thread title - it's Alex. I like Rios but don't expect we're a fit this time
  13. This would complete the Furcal/Pierre duo that was craved so much last offseason.
  14. Anyone have the Blasphemy Nomah picture around (never said it'd be easy - only said it'd be worth it)? I'd like to send it to my Dodgers fan brother-in-law. Thanks in advance if anyone finds it.
  15. Which school? Home of the Roo's I went to an AC game during the Otis Amy era.
