Starting Pitcher data from the game...

LH'ers vs. Mussina-1 of 12, Finley was the only one to make solid contact, he did twice on FBs in the same AB.

RH'ers vs. Mussina-4 of 10, Rivera, Molina, and Guerrero all hit the ball well.

LH'ers vs. Colon 4-18, Giambi with 3 line drives vs. Colon.

RH'ers vs. Colon 4-11 Jeter and Sheffield with two hits apiece.

Line drive percentages...

For the Yankees against Colon, 7 of the 8 line drives against went for base hits, 3 doubles and 5 singles.

For the Angels against Mussina, 5 of the 8 line drives went for base hits, 1 DB and 4 singles.

The only hit that wasn't a LD was the bloop hit by Sheffield in the 1st. The A-Rod HBP also scored.

6 of the 8 hits against Colon were off FBs.

3 of the 5 hits against Mussina were off FBs.

The Yankees had 7 called FB strikes thru the 1st 20 pitches, they had 7 FB strikes from pitches 20-94.

The Angels had 5 called FB strikes thru the 1st 18 pitches and then had 5 called strikes from pitches 19-98.

The Yankees had 3 line drives in the 1st 24 pitches and only had 3 line drives between pitches 25-80.

The Angels had 5 line drives in the 1st 37 pitches and had 3 from pitches 38-98.

The Yankees had 3 of the 8 line drives with runners on, the Angels had one.

Both pitchers pitched very well, one will get credit for that, the other won't.

Except for Colon suffering from Kerrywooditis (one bad inning), he pitched quite well.

Yep, terrible day of baseball. So what the heck was whoever it was that told vlad to steal thinking???

I bet Vlad took off on his own accord.

I hope so. I'd hate to think another team has someone in a management position dumb enough to do that.

Colon biggest mistake was throwing Giambi 11 pitches all FBs. He didn't pitch that poorly in the 1st, the weak hit by Sheffield changed the complexion of the game.

Matsui and Cano had back to back great ABs, tip your hat to them. Down in the count 0-2 and 1-2 respectively and able to hit a solid single and DB while making Colon use 13 pitches is an amazing job by each of them.

RHP Chien-Ming Wang (8-5, 4.02 ERA) goes for the Yankees. The Angels counter with the winner of Game 7 of the 2002 World Series, John Lackey (14-5, 3.44 ERA).

Raisin will be at the game...GO HALOS!

We all know you're just going to to look at a Wang.

I want to hear Raisin's first-hand account!

BTW, it seemed that every time a Lackey pitch was called a ball, Morgan's take was that he was afraid to throw strikes to which ever Yankee was batting. =;

That was fun! :D The most fun I've had at a baseball game since Game 2 of the 2002 World Series. There were quite a few Yankee fans (not as many as Cubs fans when the Cubs came to Anaheim last year) and they were annoying, but we got the last laugh.

I'm impressed anyone hit a HR with the winds blowing in, Rivera's shot was a bomb.

I wish I hadn't forgotten my camera. :(

With the series tied 1-1, RHP Paul Byrd (12-11, 3.74 ERA) faces off against LHP Randy Johnson (17-8, 3.79 ERA) in the Bronx.

For those of you in the general LA area who are brave enough to listen to Rex Hudler, channel 13 (KCOP) will be airing this game.

GO ANGELS!

I bet the Yanks are real happy they spent all that money and effort in getting Johnson now.
