Well, as it stacks up, it's

Yankees/Angels

Red Sox/White Sox

Cardinals/Padres

Braves/Astros

What do you think the keys for each series will be, and who do you like in each round?

I'll take the Cards, Astros, Yankees, and Sox  .

I think the key for the Sox/Sox series will be the Red Sox pitching staff. You have a fantastic offense against a good pitching staff. Some will say that the ChiSox have the advantage because "good hitting beats good pitching". Not always. As hot as Manny and Ortiz are right now, I don't know if any pitcher in the league can get them out consistently. If the Red Sox can hold down the White Sox batters, I think they'll win that series.

Cards should win in a cakewalk. As much as I'd like to see the Pads bump them off, it's not happening.

Astros/Braves is another interesting one. Braves are good, but they never are able to figure it all out in the playoffs. Astros have great pitching, Clemens/Oswalt/Pettite should be able to shut almost anyone down in a short series.

Angels are a scrappy team and always seem to play the Yanks tough. I like them in this series.

When's the first game of the Stros/Braves series, Tues. or Wed.? I just wonder because Pettitte pitched Fri., Clemens pitched Sat., and Oswalt pitched today?

Seems likely Pettitte will go for Game 1 if it's Tues.?

Dang. It must be hard to go to the Astros website and figure that out for yourself.

It's Wednesday, and it will be Pettite vs. Smoltz

I'm waiting to see which Cardinals pitchers show up this post-season. Will it be the Carp, Mulder, and Morris who dominated at various points for long stretches this season, or the pitchers that showed up the last three weeks?

Man am I missing Scott Rolen now.

I'm thinking Braves, Cards, Red Sox and Angels.

Mine was simplistic, here's a better version:

Red Sox in 4

Angels in 5

Braves in 5

Cards in 3

Angels in 7

Cards in 6

Cards in 6

I'm really torn on who I think will win the Angels-Red Sox and then the World series, though.

I'm thinking this is the year the Astros get past the first round. Clemens, Pettite, Oswalt. Lidge, Wheeler, Qualls. They got the pitching and they got some boppers and some speedy guys on offense.

Astros/Cards

Red Sox/White Sox is a tough one but I'll go with the Red Sox. I think the Yanks beat the Angels

Red Sox/Yankees

I think both the Braves and Red Sox are going to be embarrassed in the first round. Were it any other team, most people would be throwing out the usual "good pitching beats good hitting" axiom, so it's unfair to give Boston a pass. They're lucky the season didn't go another week.

The Astros are very beatable, but Atlanta's youth and bullpen problems should give Houston all the edge it needs. If Mulder and Carpenter pitch like they have most of the season the Cardinals cakewalk to the Series.

I'll pick the winner of the LAA-NYY to win it all. Too many holes/inconsistencies on both Sox teams.

The Cards "should" win the NL. It never seems to work out that way, so I'll stay guarded in my optimism.

They may have lost Reyes from the pen, and that would be a huge hit. That leaves Ray "gasoline" King as the only lefty.

I'm picking LAA as the AL team to get in. I picked them at the All-Star break, so I don't see any reason to change now.

Braves had decided to have Hudson start Game 1 and Smoltz Game 2 or at least that is what they are showing on their MLB site

I'm headed to the STL/SD game tomorrow...Hoping carpenter craps out...I think this one will be a good game, but if the Birds win then the series is close to over...(although Mulder has sucked during day games...so there is always hope for Thursday as well)

Today is the Padres chance. A red hot Peavy vs. a slumping Carpenter. If the Pads lose today, I call the sweep (as they have Pedro frigging Astacio going in Game 2)

That's what I'm scared of...I'm getting ready to go right now...if Peavey wins there is a good chance for the Pads...Mulder has been awful during the day and he's set for game 2...Morris hasn't won a game in over a month and he's set for game 3....if they pull this one off it could be a good post season after all.

Minus Boston, I'll be rooting for the White Sox in the AL.

The concept of having to travel to the East Coast, LA, or the Southeast isn't as positive of an option as just going to the "cell". I have no intentions of going to STL, but would consider it.

For purely unadulterated selfish reasons, I want the White Sox to advance for convenience more than anything else.

In the NL, I'm rooting for ATL to win the NL and then win it all.

Well...I was just there and STL looked good enough to get there...although their bullpen may leave enough to be desired that HOU could get past them....I don't like Houston but seeing the Stros get past the birds would be alright by me...the pads sure aren't going to do it.
