  1. 1. Which of these future ballparks look the best?

Minnesota Twins New Ballpark or St. Louis Cardinals New Ballpark

You can literally take a 3D tour if you click on those two links. Please, choose wisely. Do not choose Twins New Ballpark just because they're a White Sox rival or regret choosing Busch Stadium because Cardinals are a Cubs rival. Again, choose the best looking ballpark.

EDIT!: On the Minnesota Twins New Ballpark link, in the videos section, watch "A Ballpark of Imagination".... boy that video is amazing and it will probably make you teary.

Oddly enough, there will come a point when these retro ballparks will be like the cookie cutters of the late 60s-early 70s.

that point has been passed a while ago...

I was going to say, they both look exactly like Citizens Bank/Great American/insert new stadium here.

While these are better than the Riverfront and the Three Rivers of the past, I won't deny, these new stadiums still lack charm and defining characteristics.

The majority of parks lack defining characteristics. Not everyone has a Wrigley/Fenway/Yankee Stadium.

I've got to say both ball parks look cool. I like new Busch's field layout (no funky outfield wall) better. To be honest I like the new stadium and the proposed amenities, but I'm most excited about the overhangs and increased airflow. They designed it for maximum shade cover in the stands and more airflow. Current Busch is a sauna and nothing but dead air.

I want to go with the Twins' because I like the skyline view a lot, but that's penalizing St. Louis for having a small and boring skyline.

WOW...the St Louis OF has zero characteristics to it. It reminds me of dodger stadium a lot. An open air stadium in minnesota is asking for trouble but at least it has some family areas and cool looking concourses.

No way would I have an open air stadium in Minneapolis. A lot of rainouts (and some snowouts) and miserable games. April and October games? Brrrrr.

It has a roof, but it still looks like cold air could get in, if not precipitation. Brrrr indeed.

Agreed.

And even at that, the slide isn't that futuristic.

The biggest problem with the Twins ballpark has nothing to do with how it looks. It is who and how is it going to be paid for. If you haven't seen this check it out. This would be a very original idea. 2 Stadiums, 1 roof, less cost. Solves a lot of Minnesota's problems.

Also, I read (probably on this board) about the new stadium in DC for the Nats using the white marble look (like the Capital, White House, memorials, etc). Was there any truth to that? I know they don't have an owner yet, which causes a few problems.

Yes, but the architecture and the design of the park is what make it futuristic.

That's awesome. Too bad Twins already decided :(

Not so original. That was the original plan 30+ years ago for the Royals and Chiefs stadiums in Kansas City.

The Twins need a roof. My first MLB game I ever went to was a Twins/Yankees game in mid April at the old Metropolitan Stadium. It was 37 degrees and alternated between drizzle and snow flurries.

I don't see what's dazzling about the Twins new place. It reminds me a lot of Petco. Busch III actually looks like it enhances "downtown" St. Louis. Downtown St. Louis sucks and anything to help it out is an improvement.[/i]
