  1. Whether or not it is legalized for recreational purposes I don't care, but did you know you can make more paper from an acre of marijuana than you can from an acre of trees? The plant itself has many more uses than just getting high that would be of great benefit.
  2. If they were going to fix it, I don't think it worked. I got my Cubs-Twins tickets using multiple windows like I have done in the past. Last year by 1:00, I had purchased tickets to 4 different games all using Firefox and the multiple window approach.
  3. I am reading it right now (about 1/3 into it) and think it is great. I am a really slow reader, so I might have it done by the end of February.
  4. Personally, I enjoy high school mascots more myself. Some of the more interesting ones in Illinois: Cobden - Appleknockers DeKalb - Barbs Freeport - Pretzels Genoa-Kingston - Cogs Hampshire - Whip-Purs (White & Purple) Hoopeston - Cornjerkers Polo - Marcos Rochelle - Hubs Rockford East - E-RABs (standing for East Red and Black) Tuetopolis - Wooden shoes The following line is not meant to offend anyone, but Pekin, IL used to be the Chinks.
  5. If you can't get the link to work, there is a comma at the end that shouldn't be there.
  6. I'll be in Madison on Saturday to watch the Badgers play Indiana. No contest, if Wisconsin loses I will be shocked.
  7. I was discussing this with my uncle the other day. He is a Brewers fan, and contributes some of the Brewers pitching success with having Miller behind the plate. I agree with him in part simply because I think that Miller knows how to call a good game. We are talking about Barrett's defense being poor when in fact I think it is his game calling he needs work on.
  8. You mean they are the only team with a better road record. I mentioned this point a few posts up.
  9. The thing the Cubs need to start doing is winning at home. 33-36 at home, 38-36 on the road. New York and Milwaukee are 41-27 and 39-32 respectively at home. If the Cubs start playing better at home, then I don't see why there isn't a chance, though a slim one, to pull this off.
  10. Sounds good to me, but I think you meant Giles in right.
  11. I posted this once before, but I will do it again. I think the infield should like this: Regular lineup: 3B - Ramirez, SS - Nomar, 2B - Cedeno OR 3B - Ramirez, SS - Cedeno, 2B - Nomar 3B - Nomar, SS - Cedeno, 2B - Hairston - Ramirez resting 3B - Ramirez, SS - Cedeno, 2B - Hairston - Nomar resting 3B - Ramirez, SS - Nomar, 2B Hairston - Cedeno resting As you can see there are four options which in my opinion leave us with good offense, and sometimes good defense. If Dusty plans his days off correctly (which he won't), I don't see a problem with this. Trade Walker & Patterson, sign Damon to play center and lead off, get a RF, and find some pitching. Nomar, in my opinion, will come back cheap.
  12. Do we need a back up 3B if we have Nomar? Ramirez at 3B (obviously), Nomar at SS, Cedeno at 2B. If Ramirez needs a day off then you have Nomar at 3B, Cedeno at SS, and Hairston at 2B. Get rid of both Macias and Perez. That in essence gives us 2 second basemen, 2 shortstops, and 2 third basemen, all with decent to good offense. Yes, the defense still wouldn't be a tremendous improvement, if any at all. Only problem I see is if two of them get hurt. We probably would need another super-sub.
  13. I'm still hoping the Twins will win the Wild Card. If not, then the A's.
  14. The biggest problem with the Twins ballpark has nothing to do with how it looks. It is who and how is it going to be paid for. If you haven't seen this check it out. This would be a very original idea. 2 Stadiums, 1 roof, less cost. Solves a lot of Minnesota's problems. Also, I read (probably on this board) about the new stadium in DC for the Nats using the white marble look (like the Capital, White House, memorials, etc). Was there any truth to that? I know they don't have an owner yet, which causes a few problems.
  15. I figure it to be the A's over the Cards. I think the White Sox are going to have to play the A's at some point during the playoffs, and if my numbers are correct the Sox have only beating the A's twice in 9 games this season. I'd never pick Atlanta for the simple reason they never get to the Series, and whoever wins the NL West it is a given they won't get far. The Astros, while they do have good pitching, I don't think have a good enough offense. See their last 3 games not counting Monday's disaster.
  16. Funny. I was thinking the same thing.
  17. Enjoy some interesting comments from Gary Sheffield. Link Some of my favorites: I won't argue about his stats, but comments like that to me seem like another distraction the Yankees can't afford.
  18. The thing I fail to understand is why if we are not a very good team aren't we more like Houston, Washington, and Philadelphia in the home road splits? Houston, Washington, and Philadelphia all get it done at home, while have under .500 road records. The Cubs are 1 game above .500 at home, and 1 game below .500 on the road. The Cubs just need to learn to get it done at home. As I always hear Santo say "win 2 of 3 at home, and stay at .500 on the road." We are obviously doing part of that right.
  19. Didn't you hear? Due to budget restrictions the light at the end of the tunnel has been shut off. My boss has that on his door.
