What the heck is it with Walker and double plays? This guy is driving me crazy with the inability to advance runners.

You want to know why the Cubs stink...just look at their average with RISP. Frustrating!!

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRrr.....

no i think they stink because their offense is maddeningly impatient, their pitching staff is injury plagued, wild, and inconsistent, and they're run by a large, toothpick ingesting half-wit named dusty

also avg. with RISP isn't a telling stat. ask bob's keeper, he's the man when it comes to that stuff.

i'd still take walker a million times over grudz or neifi perez, too.

Holy cow, I thought Auggiedoggie was back to tell us Walker doesn't turn enough double plays!

Me too!! I was about to go search for my old responses so I could recycle the classics from that stupid thread!! :D

Todd Walker is 4th best among the Cubs' regulars at avoiding the DP. For all Cubs with at least 20 chances at hitting into a double play, here are your worst offenders by percent of the time they hit into the twin killing:

Name Opportunties:DP and %

1. Jose Macias 20:6 30.0%

2. Neifi Perez 65:13 20.0%

3. Henry Blanco 22:4 18.2%

4. Jason Dubois 22:4 18.2%

5. Michael Barrett 52:9 17.3%

6. Jeromy Burnitz 79:13 16.5%

7. Jerry Hairston 42:5 11.9%

8. Aramis Ramirez 81:9 11.1%

9. Todd Walker 59:6 10.2%

10. Derrek Lee 75:6 8.0%

11. Todd Hollandsworth 63:4 6.3%

12. Corey Patterson 56:3 5.4%

Who was surprised by 1 and 2?

Imagine how bad their OBP's would look if you deducted the extra out each time they hit into a double play.

I actually think you should do that. I also think pitchers should get a concomitant deduction in their WHIP for inducing a DP.

in my world, Basestealers get a bump in slg% for every stolen base, and lose points off obp if they get caught stealing too.

I do the same thing!!! For example, that adds 95 points to Podsedniks OPS. Plus the pressure it puts on the pitchers when hes on base and subsequent advantage it gives to hitters behind him.

oh man, so did i! he used to come on with these made up stats...saying walker was a -2.98 on defense while grudz was an 18.43. he would swear that these stats meant something, but he never would say what. classic...
