Will Clark Blasts Raffy

They were interviewing Will Clark about how he felt about Palmeiro being caught. They were teammates together in college, and I guess they had some sort of dispute when Clark got signed as a free agent. Clark said he is not surprised Palmeiro got caught. And that it is in Raffy's nature to try and hide it because "that's just the type of person he is." When asked what he would say to Palmeiro now if they were to talk, Clark said, "Hahahahaha, you got caught!"

 

He pointed out the fact that Palmeiro never hit over 40 home runs until Canseco showed up in Texas, and that Palmeiro never had over 85 RBI's until Canseco showed up in Texas. He also said that trying to say you unintentionally took steroids is a joke. He put it in the same category as golfing. "It's like walking up to the tee box with a putter instead of a driver. You know what's in your hand, and you wouldn't make that mistake unless you meant to."

 

I found that very interesting. Clark was very quick to put down Palmeiro.

OUCH. Thats' pretty harsh words coming from Will the Thrill. Both are still icons around these parts because of their college days together at MSU.

Yeah, I know. But it seemed to me that traffic was a little light on these boards today, so that's what threw me off. Oh well, it's working now, so I don't mind.

 

But yeah, Clark seemed pretty bitter towards Raffy. He said if he had a vote for the Hall of Fame he would not vote Raffy in. When asked about McGwire and Bonds, he said that their numbers speak louder than Raffy's and he would vote them in. McGwire was always a power hitter, and he has won a world series. And for Bonds he said has too many MVP's, and his numbers are TOO good to leave out.

I played againt Will's nephew in baseball. Will was in the stands after the game I asked for an autograph, he was very annoyed eventually signing a ball after his wife said something.

i remember the playoffs when the cards were playing the braves in the first round and at the deline they got Will the thrill due to Mark being hurt and before the game we were at batting practice and will came over and was very nice and sign all kinds of ppl stuff up till the moment he HAD to go in the cage and then came back over to sign a little more...

 

Back to raffy...it is really sad...I just hope now MLB and the players ass. come to a harsher pentaly for steriods like 1st time is 81 games 2nd is a year and 3rd is forever...

I agree, I too was too young to really understand. I liked him though because I went to a camp he gave for left handed hitters when I was like 13 or 14. It really really really helped. I credit him and that camp alot for helping me become a much better baseball player.

You may not be able to take steroids without knowing, but you can violate the MLB steroid abuse policy by not reading a label of a dietary supplement, which is what happened to Rincon. It was mentioned in the Tribune yesterday. However, Raffy took a steroid - simple as that, and it's a shame.

Yeah, for the past couple of days that media portrayal of it has been that it is quite a potent steroid.
