I agree with the previous two posts. I look for Farnsworth to really excel down there. He was already doing pretty good this year.

it was really annoying watching BBTN and hearing reynolds and kruk make it sound like farnsworth sucks. they said he was always getting battered around in the NL, and that they're not sure it was a good idea moving him out of the AL, where he's had some success.

and i believed em too, because i trust john kruk's evaluation of players better than schuerholz's.

I knew this would happen. I was afraid that when we let Farnsworth go, Atlanta would sooner-or-later acquire him... sit back and watch his career take off down there.

Kruk just called the Braves the biggest winner at the deadline because of their acquisition of Farnsworth.

Well, how long until Farnsworth becomes the next elite closer for the Braves?

Never.

Besides I believe Farnsworth is a FA, a RENTAL. So I doubt Farnsy stays in Atlant beyond this season.

Either Farnsworth will listen to Mazzone and become the elite closer in the NL or he will be gone at the end of the season. As we all know, it's a matter of Mazzone being able to get inside his head. I don't think Atlanta will tolerate Farnsworth if he won't take Mazzone's instruction.

Isn't Farns from Georgia? I think he'll happily re-sign with the Braves. I also expect him to close for them very soon if not immediately.

Reitsma has been lights-out as of late. Unless the wheels fall off Farns is the setup man.

Yes, but with the Braves being on a tight budget, and the way Farnsy has pitched this yr.....The Mets are going to prolly offer a 5 yr $50 million dollar contract to attain Farnsy as closer/LBer coach for the New York Giants.

Kruk also said RJ would win 30 games this year.

Point: Kruk has 0 credibility

If Mazzone can add some movement to the fastball (probably sacrifices the 100 mph for something around 97), then Farnsworth will do well; if he throws like he did with the Cubs (pure heat with no movement), he's going to continue to be inconsistent.

The rumor here in Michigan is that the Tigers offered Farnsworth a 3 year, $9 million extension to stay with Detroit. Not only did his agent turn that down, he never really considered it and never came back with a proposal of his own, either. So, the Tigers recognized that Farnsworth more than likely would not be back after this year regardless, and dealt him when they could get some prospects for him.

I find it hard to believe that Colon and Minor is the best the Tigers could get for Farnsworth, since his value is probably at an all-time high right now.

Regardless, Colon and Minor is no where close to being equal to Novoa and Moore, so the overall "Farnsworth experiment" in Detroit is probably a failure. Farnsworth posted dominant numbers, but in the end they couldn't net more for him than what they gave up.

Maybe that speaks volumes about Hendry's work in constructing that deal. Even though Farnsworth's value was low, he was still able to get more than Dombrowski was able to get now, when his value was high.

Even though I never was a fan of that Farnsworth to the Tigers trade.

Novoa sucks.

Moore was pretty good here in A-West Michigan a couple of years ago, was originally a SS and was converted to 3B.

I've never even heard of this Flowers guy.

Saber, the Detroit Free Press confirmed that the Tigers decided to trade Farnsworth after his agent wouldn't even counter what was deemed a pretty good offer to stay in Detroit. They said that Farns wanted to take advantage of being a free agent.

Of course, it also stated that Farns is from Georgia and has always wanted to be a Brave, so he may very well end up with Atlanta for the next three years.
