I heard it too. All they said was that Baez and Huff would go to the BoSox with Manny going to NY. I imagine TB would be getting some pretty big prospects from the Mets, I'm guessing Milledge would be one of them.

NESN talked about it during the Red Sox pregame it'd be

Mets get Manny and Danys Baez

Red Sox get Huff and Cameron

D'Rays get prospects including Anibal Sanchez of the Red Sox, Lastings Milledge from the Mets and at least one more from both BOS and NYM

Chris Snow of the Boston Herald reported it and said talks were "ongoing"

Edited because I had Papelbon in the deal when it was Anibal Sanchez.

Bye Bye wild card

Manny wil not propell the Mets to the WC. In fact this is a classic Met move that backfires. Manny is from Washington Heights. The distractions alone will decrease his production.

The Mets still don't have a bullpen or a decent 4th or 5th starter. No, Manny is no Christ.

Why doesnt Manny want to play for Boston? I dont get it.. somebody explain..

It stems from them trying to trade him for ARod and putting him on waivers and a lot of other hard feelings.

I don't think is the deal that decides the Wild Card. If the Astros get a bat then you can wave goodbye to it.

I don't think so. It would definitely be a huge addition for the Mets, but heck they're in last place in their own division. They have a tough schedule ahead.

ESPNEWS just said that Baez would be sent to the Mets in the proposed deal also.

Boston gets Huff and Cameron

Mets get Manny and Baez

Tampa gets prospects

I wonder if Floyd would be involved in another deal to balance out the money the Mets will owe Manny (if this first trade goes down)?

I wonder if the Mets would still be interested in Soriano if they got Manny? Probably not.

Couldn't we give Tampa better value than the Mets? :?

We probably COULD, but we would likely have to include Pie (comparable to Milledge) and possibly Hill.

They start talks for Baez with Zambrano, but now TB gets a few prospects for Huff and Baez? I don't think so. The Cubs could easily get a better package for Manny then that.

I let the emotions get going a little, but these are two pretty big additions for the Mets (IF IT HAPPENS).

I do not think Manny will drop off, not this yr. I think he will play ball for another few months.

Now next year, that is a whole new story.

This would be a great deal for the Mets but Manny's numbers would likely go down this yr. Shea is a pitchers park, along with RFK, Pro Player and Turner Field. Plus he doesn't get the chance to tee off on the Yankees staff for the rest of the season

Manny just got booed pretty loudly at Fenway.

Contrary to what the other poster mentioned, I haven't heard that it has anything at all to do with being put on waivers or trying to trade him for ARod - in fact, if I recall correctly he didn't even know he was involved in talks for ARod.

Manny for the most part could care less what anyone says about him - Manny's latest complaint is that he's tired of the lack of privacy in his life in Boston. I don't think he's expounded on that to specify exactly what part of his privacy he's talking about - it could be just him, his family whatever.

Keep in mind too that Manny and Pedro Martinez were/are good friends and Pedro has NOTHING good to say about playing in Boston.

The media in Boston can be brutal (as can the fans at times), so it could be that Manny has just reached the point where he's won a World Series and is sick of Boston - only Manny really knows what's motivating his desire to be traded.
