  1. I can not post the quote, bc it is "premium content," but according to The Sporting News Rumor was that the Cubs were inquiring about Lopez, but it was denied by two sources....
  2. That may not last. Looks like Leyland has as big of a man crush as DB did. From rotoworld.com Tigers managed Jim Leyland said he plans to use Neifi Perez over Omar Infante at second base for now. "I loved him in 1999 (with the Colorado Rockies) and I still love him," Leyland said. "He's got energy." If that's all it takes, maybe Richard Simmons can be signed to take over in left field. Even as a regular, Perez would have little value in AL-only leagues
  3. Not exactly what I was thinking, but a Mench/Nixon platoon could put up some pretty darn good numbers.
  4. According to my DVR this is correct.
  5. Maybe I am mistaken, but weren't they both of the 5-3 variety? It seemed to me that with a good throw and some hustle, both would have been double plays. I am not trying to stir this up, like I am a hater. It just seems that too many times it is the little things that the Cubs SEEM TO never do.
  6. Hard to complain about his offense (something like 30 rbi in 30 games) BUT, damn--with a little D at third today the cards score two less runs. I have NOT been one to complain about his hustle down the line, bc I do believe that his leg problems are enough to justify him being "lazy." The last thing this team needs is to lose ARam from him trying to leg out an IF single. But today it seemed he was a little lazy in the field. Anyone agree?
  7. Yes, I have have. But, sinceI heard it this moring on the score (yes that score), and since now one else is reporting it--i am hoping that I was day dreaming. BUT, I was in the car this morning around 9:30-1:000, and they broke away from the show (i think it was North...?) and said "the cubs are to recall Corey patterson." That was it, no when or for who. But, now that I am home for the day, and this board is not up in arms--I am starting to wonder If i sprinkled a little PCP on my cheerios. I am serious about this, I SWEAR i heard this. But, I can not believe no one else did?!?!?
  8. Roberts is also a center fielder and Hairston isn't. obviousy that is a true statement. But, don't you have to compare the two in the capacity that they would/are being used? I am not trying to state that i am all for this trade--but rather that it IS an improvement--just not a whole lot.
  9. WHich i believe is the EXACT same as JHJ... Not trying to pick a fight, just wanted to throw that out there. Well, I'm not that crazy about Hairston either. I wouldn't mind seeing us deal Hairston, but Roberts is not a guy I want. I am not crazy about either of them my self. BUT, JHJ straight up for roberts, in my mind improves this club (although not to the extent that we all hoped i am sure) ~OBP, neither has any power, while roberts brings MUCH better Def, and 40 SB to the table.
  10. WHich i believe is the EXACT same as JHJ... Not trying to pick a fight, just wanted to throw that out there.
  11. for what it is worth... Buster just said on ESPNEWS, that there is a 10% chance soriano gets moved. And that the cubs would have one hell of a time moving him to LF.
  12. BigbadB, if I remember right, he hasa a limited no trade clause, which does NOT include Texas. But, I believe the artical said that PARK was the one that has to approve.
  13. I let the emotions get going a little, but these are two pretty big additions for the Mets (IF IT HAPPENS). I do not think Manny will drop off, not this yr. I think he will play ball for another few months. Now next year, that is a whole new story.
  14. manny to mets baez and huff to r sox tampa ??? i missed Just on sports center teams are talking, not done yet
  15. I think that is a pretty weak argument. I, admittedly, do not see him play quite so often as you. But from what I have seen, he does a pretty good job of getting to balls in the outfield. And, like rocket said when discussing dunn and his defense. Who really cares. How many balls go to left field every game, really think about it. I'd say between 5 and 6 on a regular day. Its not a huge risk like it would be if he was playing somewhere that gets a bunch of oppratunities, like a SS. And moreover, if he can give me 92 RBI's by July 29 every year. Then hell, he can sit down in left field for all i care. Sorry, let me clarify. First off, I would take Manny at the right price (both in terms of trade and contract) in a heart beat. I was just stating that your using errors to say that Manny is not a bad fielder is a little miss guided. His is really quite aweful. That being said, as you stated--it may just be a play or two a week that another guys makes. But in return you get 1,000,000 or so RBI.
  16. Roast, that is because Manny never gets to the ball, and If he does it falls next to him--hence no error. seen him play tons of times--it is the next best thing to the circus. That being said, I'll take his bat--it is just the contract that is the prob,
  17. Maybe I missed something, but why would soriano play LF? He has refused numerous times before but now he is okay with it? ...wow dusty really is a player's manager
