Maybe you should relax a bit. I'm getting sick and tired of this pathetic offense.

the team is playing like they are tired. As they should be. They have played 15 straight games.

I always wonder how tiring it is to play baseball when you are at home and the other team has been traveling. The team has no excuse for its lackluster efforts as of late.

Err...this 18 game stretch included a road trip to Pittsburgh & St. Louis and then they travelled home ALL without a day off. You work your job 18 straight days with 3 travel days included and see if you are tired at the end of it. Sheesh

So, the one day off Arizona has had makes all the difference? Please. How tiring is it to play baseball. I don't remember ever being winded except when I pitched. Most of them also had the All Star break off. Maybe the Astros just have better beds than we do.

Do some of you people not remember anything from the last two years? Every time we lose a game to a poor team, people say we have no heart and "playoff teams don't lose these games."

In 2003 we lost a lot of games like this at this point in the season and everyone said we had no chance at the playoffs and the season was over. We made the playoffs.

The same thing happened last year and we were in position to seal the Wild Card in the final week of the year.

No one in the Wild Card race is that good this year and we're within 3 games.

I wish my job was to take BP a few hours before gametime, stand motionless in a field for half of 3 hours, sit on a bench for most of the other half, and once in a while swing a bat at a moving ball. That is sooo tough.....

You really can separate the athletes from the non-athletes. I'm guessing you never played competitive sports at a high level. I also bet you were inside air-conditioning last week in the 100+ degree temps last week instead of losing 5-10 pounds playing baseball.

I have played hockey at very competitive levels, a much tougher sport to play than baseball.

And no, I wasn't sitting inside in the AC. I was shoveling hot asphalt outside, and cutting down trees 8 hours a day while people like you made ignorant remarks on the internet to try to feel good about their sad selves.

Baker is an expert at blowing games. Prior and Zambrano - 2 of 3 games both will not get a win and could of gotten a loss because he has absolutely no ability to manage.

Great call. Our bullpen is the best in the league and they have shown great ability to hold one-run leads. What team have you been watching?

Even if a guy has a 4.5 ERA that means there is a good chance he won't give up a run. How many times do you have to see Wood/Prior/Zambrano give up leads in the 8th or 9th to figure out that a tiring starter is not as good as a mediocre reliever. Or how many times do you have to see them go to the DL to figure out they are being overworked

That guy with a 4.5 ERA would give up a run, on average, every other inning. I don't know if that's what I would consider a "good" chance...

That might well be more the way this game is going, but in principle I agree with you - especially with the games against the other WC hopefuls.

yep me too. like i said yesterday, we really need another bat in the lineup if we want to do anything. It's real sad when your backup catcher has provided all of the scoring for your team today.

Wow. Has it gotten to the point where we're critical of Lee for one at-bat? The same guy who has been just about the only reason to watch this team?

Using that logic, we should never get mad at anyone for making an out since they're supposed to do that 2 out of 3 times at the plate. A 4.5 ERA is horrible for a reliever. That means they're going to give up a run at best every other outing if they go a complete inning.

Spare me with the DL and overwork argument. When Zambrano and Livan Hernandez go on the DL for arm related issues then I might listen. There are many other factors relating to a pitcher going on the disabled list.

Ok, no matter the profession, if anyone works 18 straight days (not to mention travels 3 times as well) it would get to you. Not sure what your profession is but I don't want to go to work 18 straight days. And I love my job.

Wow, that is just flat out one of the most ignorant statements ever made. Next time you attend a baseball game, look at the players in the field that aren't involved in the play. They are ALL moving, and most of them are sprinting, to get into position to backup fielders. Anyone who has ever played baseball in any kind of competitive environment knows that you get VERY tired if you play the game correctly. Not to mention just the sheer fact of being in the heat.

This has just put me over the edge on Backer, I'm just so tired of his crap. It is sad when the freakin' manager impedes the enjoyment of a game.

My wife calls me a terrible pessimist, and I know I generally look at things from a negative standpoint most of the time, but.......

I have this weird good feeling about how the game is going to end - I have a feeling we're gonna pull this out in the 9th.

I disagree. There a couple of good teams playing for the WC. Astros right about now areplaying probably the best baseball in the majors. Things have changed since 2003.

Things changed since last year? These exact comments were made last year. Then we played good baseball and were in position to wrap up the Wild Card until a collapse in the last week.

The Astros were better in 2003 than they are now and they were better last year than they are this year.
