Keep it up, Luis. It'll be interesting to see what he can do.

By the way, does the timing of the move have anything to do with Bacon's groin injury?

I'll be at the games tomorrow and Saturday (As well as next Monday and Wednesday!). I'll try to get some pictures of him to post.

This might be a make or break type situation for him, he's been hitting better than he has since his AZL days and this will be a great test for him.

I didn't see him on the list of rule 5 players. Is that an omission or is he still not eligible? Not that anyone is likely to draft him, merely curious.

Can Montanez play CF? He doesn't seem like he has enough power to play a corner OF. If he could play an acceptable CF that would increase his value as a 4th OF.

Wow...interesting...

A double jump for a guy with his first real taste of success in years...hopefully he can handle it. If he puts up numbers like he did at Peoria, he's going to be re-emerging as a prospect rather than just a highly-paid A ball player...

Again, I appreciate how good of a job Nathan does in regards to the site. I had been on several websites and had not seen that information. With that being said I appreciate the job he does getting info on their website as fast as possible.

I started wondering about this during the Futures Game. Whenever there was a camera shot in the world team's dugout, he was sitting next to an older guy with a cubs hat on. Montanez had his arm thrown over the guy's shoulder and they were sitting there talking and having a good time. The guy looked like Von Joshua to me but I'm not sure if he was there or not.

Just my conspiratorial mind at work, but I wonder if this move has any bearing on Murton's future. It seems that Luis's presence in West Tenn would make it more likely that if Murton is demoted it will be to AAA Iowa. Does this move say anything about the likelihood of Hendry having found a deal that he likes, and it involves Murton?

Time for him to start sucken again.

Or it could be time for him to play great ball in AA. (Glass half full)

Why didn't Luis work out as a middle infielder? :?

I saw him at the futures game and he has that slim body type. Was he just to error prone?

That's what still surprises me. I saw him when he first came up in Lansing, and he moved very smoothly. The problem was that he had iffy hands and would rush his throws over to 1B.

I would have to think that if maybe, just maybe, he can put together a solid half-season at West Tenn, he may give IF another shot over the winter/next season. He has to realize, even if he duplicates the numbers he put up in Peoria in AA, he's still probably behind at least 4-5 guys as far as OF prospects are concerned.

He also has to look at positional depth, and see that if he can handle SS/2b, he has a shot to be a major leaguer with his type of bat. Maybe even CF...but corner OF, iffy.

I would think as a 3rd overall pick, he's obviously got the tools to stick at SS, and that just makes me think he needs to give it some more time.

In my view, his positional switch was just to get his mind off his fielding so he could get the bat going. He's done that, so it's time to give SS another try...

I don't think he has the hands for SS. It's one thing to bobble the ball at 2B on a sharp liner and another to do it at SS. You do that at SS and it's an E6, most of the time at 2B it is still an out or a FC with runners on base.

Heck, many of the best defensive OF'ers in MLB history started their careers at SS, Mays, Mantle, etc.

Pie and Bacon are injured, I'd try him at LF to start and see how his range and instincts are for the OF (I assume they are below avg. for a CF'er) and see if he could handle CF, which might be a longshot.

I'd scrap SS for the moment.

Well, I'm glad he's been double promoted. He really doesn't have much more to prove at the MWL. I'd keep him in the OF too, I'd rather he work on hitting at AA and get some success there.

It's recent as it says July 18, I knew Montanez promoted to AA, but when was Montanez was promoted to AAA? Or is this a misprint on BA?
