  1. And besides the curveball? Hill throws a 91-94 heater with ok movement. It was called a plus pitch by some. Remember that Hill also throws multiple curveballs at different speeds and angles. The velocity on that fastball has been up for debate. Some might tell you that 91 is max. We've talked about this a few times now. Prior to dead arm syndrome last year, Hill regularly threw lowish 90's with his fastball. He threw around 150 innings last year, quite a step from the previous years. Hopefully he came to camp in shape.

  3. yeah, his 1.17 whip last season (9th in the NL, right between zambrano and beckett) was awful. ugh, i wish he were dead. Away from Dodger park his OPS against rises to 810 and his whip is 1.25. While this is not 'top 9' by any stretch it is still decent, and a lot better than what we have at 4th/5th. More importantly I'd hate to see the Astros, Cardinals, or even the Brewers get Weaver. We could sign him to an incentive laden contract and then trade some of our other starters for other needs. Every team could use a Williams, Rusch, or Hill.
  4. Except Warner isn't even starting. Gimme a break. If you ask me your choices for WR should be Fitz & Horn, QB could be Hasselbeck or EMan. I picked EMan off the scrapheap along with BRoth in one of my leagues and I am very happy with his performance overall. I like Hasselbeck, but Alexander always seems to steal all the scores. If you are in a league that doesn't score TDs that highly then you should probably start him.
  5. Stupid neifi! AARGHH I knew he was going to do that.
  6. Clubhouse leadership is overrated. We just seem to have the wrong players. If you ask me clubhouse leadership is about as important as 'calling a good game'. Heck why not make Bako the cluhouse leader since he calls a good game for Prior? Someone else said it best : being a Cubs fan is about enduring eye stabbing horrifying migraine pain over and over again and returning the next day with new hope.
  7. Keep in mind the Mariners are not letting him use his best pitch, the slider. This is due to shoulder bursitis.
  8. Lawton played baseball with Favavavavare.. that bastard!
  9. You can't possibly be serious? Zambrano for [expletive] Baez?!

  11. Remlinger's pitched pretty well in July. Maybe he's back on track..? Well except for that Gonzo double!
  12. WRONG. It'd be a 1 run game if Dusty had pulled Ohman. How many times has Dusty made this 2 inning mistake with Ohman this year so far, 10? GET A CLUE MORAN!! As for our hitting, it's streaky. Having a lineup full of streak hitters like Perez and Hollandsworth is the reason. Perez April 68 11 25 2 1 3 12 3 1 7 0 0 .368 .403 .559 .962 May 108 11 28 6 0 2 9 3 1 9 4 0 .259 .283 .370 .654 June 109 13 25 3 0 2 8 2 1 12 0 2 .229 .248 .312 .560 July 89 7 21 5 0 1 11 1 0 7 0 0 .236 .242 .326 .568 Hollandsworth April 68 3 17 4 1 1 6 7 1 15 0 1 .250 .329 .382 .711 May 36 0 4 1 0 0 3 3 0 11 0 0 .111 .179 .139 .318 June 75 12 27 6 1 2 16 2 0 8 4 2 .360 .372 .547 .918 July 59 6 13 4 0 2 4 6 0 8 0 1 .220 .288 .390 .678 Total 241 21 61 15 2 5 29 18 1 45 4 4 .253 .305 .394 .700 [expletive] unnacceptable from a $90M team in LF. Especially with Murton hitting well in very limited AB. Perez is our backup shortstop. That is why I said LF and not SS. I wanted to make a secondary point that Cedeno should have been put in as the regular about a month ago. Perez with a god awful sub 600 ops the last two months!!
  13. Out of curiousity I wanted to check Hollandsworth & Perez's statistics this year in runner on 3rd, < 2 out situations: Hollandsworth 11 7 5 0 0 0 10 1 0 2 1 0 .455 .429 .455 .884 Perez 12 11 1 0 0 0 7 0 0 1 0 0 .083 .067 .083 .150 I'm not at all surprised by Perez, but Holly actually has pretty good stats here.
