Why waste Wuertz in this game??

Mike has apparantly tumbled down the depth chart. He was wasted in the first game of that Atlanta doublheader, and he's no longer being used like a setup man. Novoa, who has been either great or awful has somehow gotten the job without showing much.

No one seems to want the set-up role. Maybe we'll have to wait for Williamson, I don't know. But Wuertz has turned into the righty version of Glendon Rusch with his WHIP. I don't know why Novoa would be considered the set-up man he hasn't done much better.

I jumped on to see why Kerry came out of the game and saw the posts above.

I don't think anyone is saying he shouldnt have come out, just wondering if he was injured.

Naw, just no need to have your starting pitcher pitch in a blow-out, where you can just give some relievers some pitches to get in.

Oh crap, now Macias got a hit. That'll mean he'll be on the team for the remaining of the year.

Yah, some of us actually have to work for a living and can't watch the game  My head told me he was out to give the bullpen some work, but my gut was telling me he felt another "twinge" or something.

Hope it was just the bullpen needing work cause it was nice to see Wood and Prior with back to back excellent performances.

Wuertz sucks lately. he is giving up rockets all over the field and walking too many batters.

He didn't give up any rockets that inning. The ground balls were weak. The double was softly hit as well. 30 feet to the left or right and it would have been called a lazy looping liner for an out.

Why, why, why is Kerry out of the game?

It's a ten run lead. Why over-work Wood when it isn't necessary. The pen hasn't gotten much work due to the break. This is an excellent time to get the pen three innings of work.

I could buy that if he put in Novoa or Ohman or Rusch, but the most overworked guy down there, no.

Wuertz hadn't pitched in a week. If he's not well rested after that, might as well throw him on the DL. Every arm needs some work each week to stay sharp.

Send Cedeno back to Iowa. Hopefully by the time Neifi slumps again, Nomar will be up.

Unfortunately that would leave them without somebody who can play SS. They need to keep Ronny up unless they get another SS or Nomar returns.

Cody Ransom can do just as good of a job sitting on the bench as Cedeno. I'd be able to live with the risk of losing Ransom once Nomar is activated.

What is the 40 man situation with Murton, Greenberg and Grieve being added?

I'm pretty sure Grieve was already on there, so it still stands at 39.

I'd like Williams out of the rotation, where he hasn't impressed me at all, and into a setup role.

The last inning notwithstanding, Wuertz has pitched poorly over the last month and has lost his setup role as a result. I loved him earlier in the year but you cant rely on a guy who comes in late and walks people.

Who's watching the game? What did they say about Wood coming out so early? Please tell me he isn't hurt again.

Ten run lead, I would assume he's just resting him. Kerry pitched well, and threw 75 today, so that's enough.

At least that's what I'm hoping, I'm just watching the gamecast.

We have a 10-run lead. We don't want to overwork one of our studs.

Grieve sighting!

And he gets a base hit.

Holy cow, the Cubs are locked on.
