IMO, Lee is the only one who gives a crap about this team.

Ramirez certainly gave a crap tonight. 3 RBI including a 2-run homer.

Agreed. ARam has handled himself very professionally over the past 2.5 years. It's why he's my favorite player.

Sod the rest of this lot, though.

Put a fork in us - we're done. The team is self destructing right before our very eyes.

Welcome to Cubs baseball. You know they had to start playing the Cubbie way sooner or later. It just took them to the NLCS to do it in 2003 and late September to do it in 2004.

Predicted headline in tomorrow's Tribune: Despite Woes, Baker Gets Vote of Confidence.

If not tomorrow, I guarantee we will see a headline in this vein in the coming days.

The sad thing is that you are probably right.

Yes, but the "vote of confidence" is usually a death knell for most managers. With the Cubs, it will probably actually BE a "vote of confidence."

I will say this: if, in two months, I'm at Ryno's Number Retirement game and the team is still horrible and Dusty's still the coach, I will have a spectacular sign out in left.

"We're sorry you can't be proud to be a Cub today, Ryno."

At least last year I felt like the injuries really were the aggravating factor in the Cubs overall failure. This year it has just been incompetance, and it happened alot earlier, which is a blessing in disguise, I guess.

Well he's already gotten one this year and lived to talk about it

Dusty Baker, known for his motivational magic, just allowed a talented team to play its most lifeless, craptacular ball of the entire year in four of the biggest games to date.

If Hendry has any sense, he'll can the idiot before sunup.

If not, we'll have to suffer through 495 more days of utter torture.

It's telling when a game thread only produces 16 pages of posts. No one here even cares, and we're among the biggest fans in the world.

Dusty needs to be fired immediately.

Plz don't blame Novoa.

Novoa sucked but it doesn't matter much at this point. Hendry handicapped this team in the offseason, and Dusty has done a bang-up job of killing it off.

if this doesn't spell the end of dusty, there's no way he'll be fired before the end of his contract.

i really, really, really hope to wake up to the news that he's been fired.

oh i'm certainly not expecting it, just saying that it would be the only possible good news coming from this team tomorrow morning.

I'd bet they'd wait until the team comes back to Chicago after the Florida series. I just hope it gets done at all.

Who would be interim? Pole or Rothschild?

i'd guess rothschild, because he's a hendry guy. hopefully only until grady little can find his way to chicago - that, or jim leyland.

I think Pole would quit and go with him. Rothschild would be my first guess, Speier second. Isn't Grady Little still with the orginization?

grady is currently a catching instructor in the minors, i believe.

I'd fire Baker, Pole, and Clines. I'd name Little interim manager, and promote Von Joshua to batting coach.
