Hairston

Walker

Ramirez

Burnitz

Dubois

Cedeno

Perez

Blanco

That is a pretty ugly looking lineup. Or do you maybe bat Cedeno second.

I like that lineup. But I'm sure Dusty will say he's batting Todd down there for protection.

Something I really don't understand about Dusty.

He makes a big deal about going RLRL whenever he can. When there is a righty on the mound, he tries to insert a lefty where possible, but not stack the lefties back to back.

However, when a lefty is on the mound, he almost always bats his lefties back to back. Before it was Burnitz/Patterson back to back, right now it's Burnitz/Walker. I just don't get it. Why is it a good thing to go RLRLR with a lefty on the mound, but he goes RRRRLLRR with a lefty on the mound?

The day you figure that out is the day you understand Dusty logic. For your own sake, I hope you never live to see that day.

Currently, it's 70 degrees here in Atlanta, overcast, and it's been raining off and on all morning. It's not raining at the moment, so it's one more cup of coffee, and we're off to Turner Field. Fortunately, our seats are about 8 rows behind the overhang of the upper deck, so we'll stay dry come what may.

Go CUBS !!

Here they are!

Starting Lineups

No. Chicago Cubs Atlanta

1 Jerry Hairston Jr., CF Rafael Furcal, SS

2 Neifi Perez, 2B Kelly Johnson, LF

3 Aramis Ramirez, 3B Marcus Giles, 2B

4 Jason Dubois, LF Andruw Jones, CF

5 Jeromy Burnitz, RF Julio Franco, 1B

6 Todd Walker, 1B Johnny Estrada, C

7 Ronny Cedeno, SS Ryan Langerhans, RF

8 Henry Blanco, C Wilson Betemit, 3B

9 Mark Prior, P Horacio Ramirez, P

Facing lefties is when we miss Lee really bad. If he were around Walker would be at 2B and Neifi would be on the bench.

thank god Hairston is in the lineup and Cedeno as well. However...Walker not in the 2 hole? Perez IN the 2 hole?? Dubois batting cleanup??? The sad thing is the game 2 lineup is probably going to be even worse.

You guys kill me as if Walker hitting second and dropping Perez to 8 is going to be the difference between scoring 2 runs and 8 runs.

I agree with Goony, I don't understand batting lefties back to back against a lefty.

So this game isn't televised if we aren't in the Chicago area? I'd rather see this game than game 2.

If any player is going to start both games why would it be Neifi Perez as it appears to be right now? I can't see Cedeno starting both games at SS and I'd imagine Perez will move back to SS for game 2. Walker/Hairston or even Macias will play 2B in the second game.

Bah. Even EI isn't carrying it.

Try channel 746.

It's not on my EI either. I have digital cable. I don't know if it's different.

I think too many people get caught up in the number of pitches per inning. If a pitcher is around the plate throwing strikes like Colon for the Braves was Tuesday, then you have to swing, and at least you're swinging at strikes. It's the eight or ten pitch innings where hitters are swinging at balls that's pathetic.

Which is what we do a lot of times. That, and I'm also sick of swinging at the first pitch just to be swinging at the first pitch. If it's a pitch you can crush fine, but don't hit a little dribbler to the shrotstop on the first pitch all the time.

Can't Holla play first. Are we resting him for the double header?

I was thinking I'd like to see Holla at 1B, Walker at 2B, and Cedeno at SS. That way Neifi stays out of the game.
