The Cubs have nailed most of their drafts under Kantrovitz. There is no reason to worry about who the Cubs end up going with. It might not be your flavor, but the team hasn't really missed much. It'll be fine.

Yeh, mlb draft was always weird for me to get into. After the first handful of picks, its more about signability and guys who can help in 3-6 yrs (HS kids),  then getting best available player on board.

Yeah it's hard! Especially when they draft a high school kid. I remember when the Cubs drafted Justin Steele, I remember following him through all the arm injuries, and then he became a real-MLB pitcher by the age of 26 almost 10 years later. It's WILD.

I nailed the first 4 picks. Haven't gotten one right since.

(I did have Gracia going to the Braves...at 26)

I think getting more than 5 in this first round would have been a feet. This has been a bit wild. Not even because of the names, but the order.

There hasn't been a Hayden Simpson yet, so at least there's that.

At the time of the Hayden Simpson pick we had a guy on the ProSportsDaily board, come online and who told us that they were going to him days before the pick. It's the single greatest "random poster is an insider" post I've ever seen.

2 pitchers taken in the first 17 picks. 5 picks left until we pick. Who are yall watching that you really hope makes it to us that you didn’t think would before the draft started?

I'm looking at Peterson, Townsend, Jackson, Flukey. Six picks, and four guys I really like. Close to getting one of them.

Peterson and Flukey have no business getting to us and we should be doing backfilps if they do.  I really really like Dietz too but that's less of a consensus choice.  I'm also willing to stomach the health risk for Reddeman if the org is.

We're at the point though where there's definitely going to be multiple SPs on the board I'd be happy with.

So this is absolutely setting us up to take a prep bat.
