Yeah man - I’ve always been a fan of Thielbar, but he’s a huge liability this season.

He has, what we got from him last year was really more than anyone could have expected and he was very valuable.  I absolutely expected some regression this year, but man he's really chunking meatballs up there every other outing.

Said man from 1970😅
I know you are joking. So am I.

That’s the thing with fancy stats. How can Mason Miller be worth 2.2 fWAR with a 2-1 record. That’s only 1 net win.

Since June 1st, PCA is:

  • Second in HRs
  • Third in SBs
  • First in average (by 27 points)
  • First in OBP (by 47 points)
  • First in slugging
  • First in wOBA (by 50 points)
  • First in wRC (by 35 points)
  • Sixth in overall baserunning
  • First in defensive value added

Just a historic level complete and total domination of all facets of the game.

Leonardo Dicaprio Calvin Candie GIF

Apparently he has dismissed the idea of waiving his NTC but we'll see. I bet teams will be sniffing around.

And I also bet some idiot won't vote him for the HOF because of his lack of competitive spirit or something.

Yeah I went down a rabbit hole like a month ago and the people that follow the Angels closely (which, why) will say he's 100% not going anywhere.

Would be a fascinating trade though. His contract was super underwater going into this year with all the injuries, but he's stayed healthy and been incredible. He's, I believe, got Bregman's exact contract the rest of the way, which is a big load to carry especially when Nico and PCA kick in. You'd almost consider throwing more prospect value than necessary towards the Angels to get them to pick up some of the contract. But it solves a corner outfield spot and basically locks up the offense for the next few years (as being really, really good), so whatever resources are left would just be 100% pitching.

No thanks on Trout . Nothing againts him , great career , has mostly stay healthy this year , but don’t trust him staying on the field going forward .

I probably just sign Suzuki back and go cheaper with the other OF spot or try Shaw .  Yeah I know Suzuki has had injury issues as well , but they can keep him for just money .

Trout isn’t getting traded anyway. , but is an interesting topic . I just read that Rosenthal is saying Wacha and Lugo are unlikely to be dealt .

Also the Twins are just 2 GB of the wild card and lead the American League in runs scored . I don’t think they are trading Ryan unless they completely fall apart the next 2 weeks

I think Casey Mize is my arm of choice. I don't see the Cubs in on Gray because of the 2027 mutual option with a $10M buyout. Mize is a rental which means they wouldn't have to completely decimate the farm. He almost assuredly wouldn't cost you Shaw, Mo or even Ramirez, but could it get done with one of  Kepley/Alcantara/Ayers as the lead piece? Not really excited by the thoughts of giving up any of Hartshorn/Conrad/Wiggins/Rojas for a rental unless it's a completely dominant rental.

Twins have been on a major heater, only 2 back in the division. He is likely staying.

I want a Trout + Detmers package and only PCA would be off-limits. Go hard.

Ummm....I think I love this idea?

1.  There are very few bats that upgrade this lineup meaningfully enough to be noticeable without just robbing Peter to pay Paul on defense, but Trout threads that needle

2. The outfield is in an awkward spot this winter where it *needs* a starter but you don't want to block our higher end prospects in '28 and beyond with just a guy.  Mike Trout will either be an impact player on the field or out of the way in the infirmary

3.  Trout's contract is bad but not completely underwater, so you defray the cost of Detmers significantly but this shouldn't be an albatross we're taking on

4.  It's Mike horsefeathering Trout!

I had recently started thinking avout Byron Buxton with similar rationale in mind but I like this a lot more.
