Because he's Collin Rea

In any event he could have taken him out after the HR, could have taken him out before the walk.  If you dispute that Rea shouldn't have been taken out after 5 then fine, there were 2 opportunities to take him out before the 2nd run

Counsell took Rea out after he gave up a swinging bunt 45 mph roller to Nico that the runner beat out. There was no walk. Your wrong and just bitching to bitch

We don’t want our bad starters (at least four of the five currently) to see the lineup a third time. We don’t want maton to pitch ever. So we just want 7 bullpen guys (unless there are other bullpen guys on the cut/murder list I’m forgetting, the list goes up every day!) to cover 4+ innings 4 out of every 5 days. Should be fine!

Oh, and the pen sucks!!!! So what is Counsell to do for people not to complain? We all know if he pulled Rea after 5 shutout innings and only 70 pitches and the pen came in and blew the game people would be bitching about Counsell.

Colin Rea sucks. The bullpen pitchers also suck. There’s only so many of them and four of them pitched yesterday and we don’t get a day off before the next series. You need to try and steal innings when you can.

anyways, the guy that should have been cut just erased all the damage from the terrible managing blunder

I get that, I just can't help but to smirk at the fact that Collin Rea gets a longer leash from Counsell than Kyle Hendricks got from Joe Maddon.  One being a WS manager with a legendary pitcher and the other being... Collin Rea.

At least it didn't burn them tonight.

but he's still Collin Rea and smart managers don't let mediocre pitchers see a lineup for the 3rd or 4th time.  They should have taken his 5 solid innings and turned it over to the bullpen.  Now it's a dog fight.

Oh great, it was a slow roller instead of a walk.  I guess I'll start pretending Counsell is a good skipper now 😂

Does it look to anyone else like Bergman and Happ don’t like each other?

interaction in the dugout after Happ homer did not seem positive.

Maybe the GM should get off his *** and make a move then?

You do that. And I will pretend you know baseball.

If this is specifically a game 7 reference…that decision didn’t work? Our (overworked as hell) closer blew the game.

I agree with ‘maybe we should get more pitchers’  Been saying that for about 8 months now. But The Guy That Counsell Didn’t Put In (wholly hypothetical) has a 0.00 ERA in your head and never gets tired. We had to go back to back with thielbar and now we have Tyler (Trent?) (Travis?) Thornton. It’s complaining to complain, there aren’t good options here

I remember that Counsell didn't manage like this in the playoffs.  We saw Palencia come into the 5th, 6th, innings.  So hopefully you are right that it's just injuries and lack of options.  I agree that they need to make a move and soon.

I just hate feeling like the team doesn't have a sense of urgency on some days.  Not complaining.

Thornton has been pretty good.  I'm impressed.  I should mention that I get impressed easily.

Exactly.  This is one of 162 games, not a playoff game.  And, Counsell should have kept Rea in the 6th.

Don't cry buddy.  I'm entitled to my opinions

You are. But when all you ever do is bitch about every move Counsell makes you lose credibility. At the very least Counsell isn’t an idiot. And just because he doesn’t do what you think he should doesn’t make him a bad manager. Frankly most of the time I disagree with your opinions. But as you said, we are all entitled to our opinions.

Their rotation has just 2 regular starters in Imanaga and Taillon,  a guy who was supposed to be in the pen in Rea, and depth starter in Brown,  and an emergency depth starter in Wicks. So yes, injuries and lack of options has depleted the rotation.

Then you have pretty much a pen filled with depth and reject types..  lol

A lot of that was just increased days off too. That and, unpopular opinion maybe, games in may just aren’t must win.

but also, you aren’t really going to convince me that a pitching well (for his talent level) Colin Rea is some significantly worse option than…Ryan Rolison or whoever is doing there now. Maybe a little bit? But if you try to coax one more out of Colin Rea, you save an arm for another day.  If you go to the pen, no matter what the outcome, you’re likely down that arm. That matters.

what on earth are you talking about

Watch Happs comment to Bregman just before the strike two call on Seiya. This and other interactions appear as though Happ does not appreciate Bregman’s constant input.
