I'd love the Cubs to get someone good, but the names the Cubs can probably get now are the names that Jon Morosi mentioned: Bailey Ober.

And the best thing I can say about Bailey Ober and his 88mph fastball is that I guess he has no torn meniscuses right now.

It's almost assuredly a "wait until teams actually want to sell" situation for a bit.

Regardless of how bad they are right now, I don’t see a way the Mets dump now. Too much money invested. He isn’t going anywhere. And if the Mets are within 5 or 6 games of the WC at the TDL, I doubt they deal him.

@Rcal10@Jason Ross I agree that it won't happen now, but come July that's a very intriguing name IMO.  Controllable thru next season and he gets paid less AAV than Boyd.  Pretty much a cost controlled Boyd replacement for next season too.

I think it is a players option for next year. So I would guess he would elect to be a FA if he pitches well.

Good catch on the player option, didn't realize that.

Tyler Ferguson is a likely candidate to join the Iowa mix this week.  6-4  95+ 5 pitch mix with minor league option remaining.

What’s the word on Wiggins and Wicks? Cabrera is also an injury risk so it’s great that they’ve knocked off these wins before they start treading water with the injuries.

I’d rather have Brown in the rotation if he’s only pitching every 3-4 days when Thielbar returns with Assad eating innings in blowouts.

Wicks has been bad this year when he's been healthy. Wiggins hasn't pitched in a month in a game. Neither are options nor will be for a bit.

Right. Do we know when Wiggins will be at least?

No. With all Cubs MiLB injuries, expect the team to be less than forthcoming. As with Conrad, and others, expect them to just be randomly added to an ACL roster one day, or pop back up in pictures. Before then, the Cubs won't really be very open.

From a fan perspective, it'd be cool to know more, but the Cubs don't really gain a lot by being super open with MiLB injury timelines.
