The Padres really feel like they're a whole lot of smoke and mirrors, I just can't buy into their record.

Matt Waldron sucks, but!

- A 12-something ERA is ripe for regression

- Knuckleballers are weird...I don't think we've faced one since pre-pandemic?

- Taillon’s not exactly Cy Young

Definitely feel much closer to good than great for this one.

I can see the Cubs scoring 12 or 0 today

It's irrational but honestly it feels like there's no in-between

Curious as to why Kopech hasn't signed yet, is he still injured ?

Hed be a good arm to have in the pen if healthy

He ended last year with a multitude of knee injuries and only pitched 11 innings. His ERA was good, but he walked the world last year. He had 13 walks in those 11 innings and 12 K's. He did so with velocity trending the wrong way, though still over 97mph (down over 1mph from the year before).

MLB teams wouldn't leave a healthy arm laying around that they trust. So either:
1. He's not healthy and teams have red-X'ed him
2. He's not healthy and is taking extra time rehabbing and coming back and will sign with a team later

But either way, I don't think he's healthy or he'd have signed a long time ago.

Not sure if mentioned in last night's thread but Taylor said during last broadcast that Palencia was doing some throwing off a mound and may be back in about a week.

Posted (edited)

Last 14 games PCA hitting .292/.393/.438 for a 140 wRC+ with 10.7% BB%

Shaw hitting .400/.444/.560 for a 186 wRC+

Every time a player comes back, another breaks his leg. So be prepared for Hoby Milner to be down.

Yeah this trend has been very obnoxious.

I wonder if the Mets keep sucking, would a trade for Devin Williams occur. We wanted him, he's sucked horribly, they'd probably be happy to move him in a couple months. IDK maybe far-fetched but it crossed my mind.

14 game splits are insane for about the whole lineup

Yeah PCA's 140 wRC is actually dragging down the overall team wRC over the last 14 days (144)

On the topic of teams that have sucked, Crochet and Suarez are locked up for a long time but Sonny Gray is in the last year of his deal

And shouldn’t cost much. Maybe he is an option. But won’t be for a while.

I like Gray quite a bit and he fits our profile. Worth watching.

They'd probably have to eat alot of that contract

Eh. He has a .591 BABIP in 8 innings. I'd imagine their opinion of him (and their implied valuation of him) hasn't materially changed. I'd take him at the deal he signed right now.
