does no news on Rojas make it more likely or less likely it's serious?

My guess would be more likely it is serious.

I saw this mentioned elsewhere and admittedly my first reaction was an eye roll, but why not BJ Murray for the last bench spot?

- Craig barely uses that spot, so you don't want to put an actual prospect there

- Ostensibly it's only use is to have a viable infielder in reserve in a game where you've swapped Shaw out mid-game

- Clearly Kingery is not bringing a gold glove to the table.  He's a better athlete but clearly the lack of experience is hurting him

- Murray's 2024 killed his prospect shine, but you'd expect a decent at bat from him.  Certainly better than Kingery, and worth noting that he'd generally be called on to face relievers with big platoon splits

Kingery provides baserunning value Murray doesnt, he also provides coverage at 2B Kingery doesn't, but still feels like we could squeeze a smidge more out of that roster spot without expending any resources?

Ty Southisene had another triple, his ISO is almost into triple diggies.  Not quite as egregious as Mathis but he should probably be at SB too.  Maybe bump him up in a ~month with Hartshorn?

Basically how I answered the question. If Murray isn’t a real prospect, why not him. Not sure he isn’t a prospect, however.

There might be an opening now if Cepeda is out a while.

Even if he is a prospect, his most likely role is a bench guy so I don't have a problem if you think he can hang.

I don't *hate* the idea of Murray in the 26th spot, but I'd have some reservations with the running. Really that's been the primary usage of Kingery. If you told me he'd give you enough value to be a decent hitter against RHP and that the team would actually use him in that role (for Busch, or PCA if you trusted someone else to take CF) in a critical spot where you'd need a RHH, I could think it'd work.

But as a 1:1 right now, I'm not sure he'd get many/if any more PA's than Kingery and wouldn't add the pretty solid speed element Kingery can.

The Boston Red Sox have gotten a 57 wRC+ out of their 2B this year and a 40 out of their 3B.

Jed needs to torment Breslow until he sends Payton Tolle our way for Shaw or Ramirez.

Top 100 prospect

SSS, recency bias, and all that, but I wouldn't blink twice if someone rated Ramirez the #1 prospect in the system and a Top 50 prospect in baseball.  The top guys in the system entering the season are all hurt, and he's been an absolute monster so far.

His main knock entering the season was his lack of power, and I don't think this is a mirage.

Yeah, those were both bombs to deep CF today.  Even in Iowa, that's not something a guy with no power is doing with regularity.

I  mean, if we hit mid June and his still has this level of performance I'm not sure he isn't closer to a top 10 guy then a top 50. He's getting to the point where each day I'm going from more irrational to rational for wanting to dump Shaw so we can keep Ramirez around.
