I’d love to see the combined exit velo of every hit this inning. Lovely to see.

Well, we all knew this day was coming eventually.  But Matt Shaw looks like he's becoming one of the best outfielders in the game and a cornerstone.

We kid but if there's a positive he entered today with the second best xwOBA of any Cub in the lineup tonight. He's hitting the ball legitimately well.

Conforto looks like me rounding the bases.

Yep. He really Jerry Lewis’d his way around the bases.

I think I could beat Conforto in a foot race.

I'm 62 and have one knee replaced.

Lol

Looked like he was just jogging to third,  not expecting to be sent home

Cam Smith had a worse year than Shaw last year. He started well and came back to earth. And yet, here we are again discussing how  good he will become after a hot start. Please stop it, until he does actually prove to be a good major league player.

I never said anything of the sort, in fact I agreed with you.

Elite ?  They're not even close to being very good yet, this is basically the same group that struggled for most part of second half last year.

Theyre obviously going to be much better then this 10 game start, but unless they all start clicking on a higher level then normal,  theyre far from a bat away to being an elite group.

I don't think this team is worse than the one that was 1 game away from the NLCS last year, even without Cade Horton.  They do need the rest of the rotation to be healthy though, including Steele.  Bullpen will get into form soon.  Lineup concerns me a bit but they have the pieces to at least be an above average offense.
