After a 14-13 June, its time to start July off with a nice long winning streak against the NL East and some potential Wild Card rivals. The ex-Expos roll into town, and the Cubs send newly-returned ace, Mark Prior, to the mound to get the month started with a victory. Livan "150-pitch" Hernandez takes the mound for D.C.

Over/Under on combined basehits by both pitchers is 4.5

If you're attending the game in Wrigley, get there early -- the 1st 10,000 fans age 21 & over get a Cubs Gray T-Shirt. :D

oh.... and one more thing....

Looks like Ramirez, Barrett, and CP have some good success against Hernandez, so hopefully they'll keep that going tomorrow.

Has anyone heard an update and A-Ram?

See baseball discussions. X-Rays negative, day-to-day.

So now that we got our official June Swoon out of the way, can the Cubs please string together a couple of long winning streaks without much losing inbetween?

This coming stretch of games is crucial. The Cubs have the opportunity to pull away in the WC standings with games against the Nats, Braves, and Marlins going into the All Star Break. Getting that momentum going into the second half is going to be very important, imo.

WOOH HOO I'M GOING TO THE GAME TOMORROW!!!

Bleacher seats. 8)

Have a great time and drink an Old Style for me.

Speaking of which, isn't it amazing that Wrigley Field actually has the mystical ability to make Old Style taste good?

It's the only place in the universe where that happens.

Actually I have been to Wrigley only a couple of times (3), but catch the Cubs in various ballparks, and because it is tough for me to get elsewhere, Old Style is almost kind of a treat.

A cheap treat that doesn't taste very good after the first couple of sips, sorta like a 25 cent gumball, but a treat nonetheless.

Macias is playing 3rd today for Ramirez.

I wonder if Blanco will still catch Prior. Perez, Macias, Blanco and Patterson (with his struggles) in the same lineup together is not a pleasant thought at all.

The Nats are 15 games above .500 and the Cubs are 3. If that doesnt piss you off enough to want a sweep i dont know what does. The Nats smoke and mirrors road show comes to an end this weekend.
