Best ability is availability my guy.

Kyler gordon is a walking injury, great player, but who gives a f*** when you're never on the field?

Gordon isnt the issue. The DL and the pass rush is the issue.

Last call was solid. 4th and 1 with 14 seconds left, they need a TD. If they get the first there they'll have maybe 7 seconds left and there'll be 8 defenders in the end zone.

The play was there, Caleb tossed it a touch late and a touch underthrown.

As for why they let so much time come off the clock there, they wanted to make sure there wasn't any time left for the Packers after a score. Again, logic was there, what they were doing made sense.

I think they used 30 seconds for the 3rd down play. They were so worried about not leaving time on the clock that they rushed themselves at the end.

In his postgame interview, Ben said he would have gone for two had they scored.

Those are just way too many mistakes for a game of this magnitude. No way he should have been trusting Caleb in that position when your strength is rushing. Caleb only has a fastball and doesn’t normally have the touch for that throw.

hes lead more/as many 4th quarter wins as anyone in the NFL in year 2 after year 1 was under an offensive scheme that wouldn't win games in DIV 2 college football

I dont want to make excuses for a QB, but for once in our lifetimes, the Bears have to right the ship on their QB process. Johnson has another offseason with him, it can only get better

I don’t disagree with your comments - the future is bright. Still, 3rd and 4th down were ugly. Taking too much time on 3rd down forced Ben to try to score on 4th down instead of just running for the 1st. Ben gambles a little too much.

it was an away game to the biggest rival in professional sports. he had to gamble.

Caleb continues to be so perplexing.  He can go from looking nearly unplayable to making elite play after elite play in an instant.  His talent is so tantalizing and his issues seem fixable but at the same time we have yet to see him play a truly elite game from start to finish outside of maybe Dallas this year and Jacksonville last year.

It was pretty obvious they were going to go for 2 there had they scored. They weren't rushed on the 4th down play, they went for the TD on a play where the Packers were all in defending the run. It just didn't work. Good plays don't work all the time.

Or just run the ball on 4th. They were having lots of success in the second half. The run game is far more reliable than Caleb right now.

I think the first 6 plays of this game were 5 passes and 1 run. I know you don’t want to be totally predictable, but we just can’t do that Ben,

The fan base seems to have suddenly gone nuts after the last few weeks. They just went 3-1 in a stretch where 2-2 would have been considered a win for the franchise, and the loss was on a last second play that was there.

Caleb continues to throw the ball in places where it won't result in a pick, and is releasing the ball in time and quickly enough to avoid almost any sacks. It's much preferable to the alternative of taking 2-3 extra sacks per game just to keep the completion % up.

But that’s what great QBs do. The difference between great QBs and average ones is often the ability to play well all game over and over again.

Trying to be too clever, after review, he'll know he doesn't have to be, just run it down their throats.

I understand the sentiment that we came back and played right up to the end so it feels better.  But terrible 1st half gameplan, still not getting 60 minutes from Caleb, and a DLine that is a no-show in pass rush just isn’t good enough to win a game like this.  In 2 weeks it’s going to be the same game different city.  I don’t want to see Caleb dropping back every play unless the run game has been established and I need to see a better pass rush than tonight, which was abysmal.

This hasn’t been his first time trying to be too clever. You don’t get more wins for winning with trickery.

They ran the first play, IIRC Caleb missed an open receiver on 2nd down leading to a 3rd and medium, a throw is understandable.  On the second drive, he completed a nice pass to Loveland but had had it ripped away leading to 2nd and 10.  He then missed an open receiver on a medium route, leading to 3rd and long.  I think it was more game script than anything else.  They were pretty run heavy much of the rest of the game.

DJ Moore with 1 catch for -4 yards. $28.5 million cap hit the next 2 years with $35.5 million in dead cap money next year. 3 TDs and 500 yards is not getting it done.

There's no need for any trickery vs. Cleveland either, I don't care how good Myles Garrett is, Bears OL is elite and will pound the Browns into sand.  Just be patient and stick with it and it'll open up shots downfield as well.

The thing that gets me is everyone knew the Bears should run first.  And by everyone I mean garden variety fans like me.  There’s shuffling things up but then there’s times when a clear strategy is apparent. I trust next game will be different.  In a way I’m glad we play them again in 2 weeks.  It’ll give BJ a chance to make adjustments and see them in action almost immediately.

What? He’s got 9 wins and counting in his first year with a (recently) historically bad franchise. I feel like being too clever is jus him, being clever, above everyone else in the league

Honestly, I kind of look at the Bears like Indiana, this season' success came out of left field, no expecting anything.  And, like Indiana last season, they're not quite there but, they're building towards something very special.  They'll fix the defense in the off season and things will take off.

Week 1 he tried to be too clever by trying to have Santos kick it through the end zone. Then the 3 really bad decisions today. He needs to be better. He’s obviously pretty good, but he has to be better.

Unlike every other recent Bears HC Ben is not a moron and will learn from his mistakes.

He made 3 big mistakes today. That’s gotta stop happening.
