How does the Moody contract work exactly?  If Santos is healthy and Moody is sent back to the practice squad, can he be snatched up by another team that is looking for a kicker on their active roster?

As long as a team signs the player to the 53 man roster they can sign any teams practice squad player. The player can decline. Also if it is an upcoming opponent then it must be done six days or more before the game.

Yes

I'm counting the TD pass to Rome. It was a TD pass until the poor officiating made up a reason to take it away.

Yeah they can say whatever they want about how that’s a penalty.  That alignment happens several times every game and it isn’t flagged.  Total BS to call it.

Thats a 4QC for Caleb again

Couldn’t have teed up a more fitting ending  for payback from the Hail Mary game. I can’t remember the last time we were on the right side of one of these.

Did Caleb inexplicably cause a fumble and throw a terrible INT?  Also, who won?  One-sided officiating and Daniels still horsefeathered it up, directly responsible for the loss.

Still a lot of inconsistency and slop on per top back basis. He’ll throw a 30 air yard bullet to Buden for a 37 yard pickup and on the next pass attempt he’s off target trying to lead a receiver sitting in zone. One thing that’s noticeable is he’s getting the ball out quickly and minimizing negative plays and it’s reflected in his efficiency stats. His ANY/A, QBR and NY/A are all right outside of the top 10 and his era adjusted efficiency is almost 2 standard deviations higher than a year ago. The lack of costly turnovers was the difference in this one as well.

I’m hoping to find a compilation of these bad calls. Every 50/50 judgement call negatively impacted the Bears.

There was a short out route for a catch and a 2 or 3 yard gain late in the game and right in the middle of the picture is someone with their straight arm bending Odunze's head straight back and it was like that for the entire length of the play. The most obvious illegal hands to the face penalty of all time, and it's forever burned into the tv screen, but the officials couldn't be bothered to call it.

I can handle some bad calls. But where are the make up calls or the calls that balance it out? I saw plenty of holding from the DC OLine that could have called back plays for gains. It's almost as if there was some bias from these judges. I'd send the tape in and ask WTF. That penalty on the td should never be called. That penalty wasn't even a thing until last year. Making up new lame penalties is not what the sports world wants.

Frustrates me as well, in time he'll clear up the misses on layups.  Can't blame him for missing on the crossing route to Zaccheaus, perfectly thrown ball, should have been caught and would have gone for big yardage, maybe, to the house. Screamed at TV on that one.  By the way, WTF is it with NFL officiating and their general lack of calls regarding roughing on Bears' QB's?  Given what was called on the Bears, there were, at least, two occasions where the Commanders should have been called.

Given Ben Johnson' attention to detail I'd venture to guess the Bears are appealing, etc. to the NFL.

FWIW I had ChatGPT analyze Alex Moore and his crew is definitely on the flag happy side.  It sucks because people don’t come to watch refs.  It’s unacceptable when it’s mostly one team getting the BS calls.  We win that game comfortably with a different crew.

You’ll be ready to cut ties with Moody in a few weeks. Trust me.

At least he can kick farther than 40 yards

Either way game ball goes to Jayden. People who say Caleb was bailed out need to stop giving Swift all the glory. He wasn’t the one that dropped the ball at mid field with a little over 2 minutes left giving the offense the ball near midfield. It was personal for him. He showed us why Poles should’ve drafted him by helping the Bears win.

Life of a kicker. Santos has been fired before, also. He was the Chiefs kicker to start his career and he's kicked for 5 different teams, including one other time as a Bear back in 2017 (I don't even remember that).

He's got a job still because he's been pretty accurate, even at lengthy distances, although most of the time he can't be trusted to even try from NFL long distances. His longest field goal ever is 55 yards.

I to had the sense the Bears were about to blow them out, one team most definitely benefited from bad officiating.

Exactly. It changed the momentum. But, Sweat did look to purposely whack Daniels in the head, so I'm not really counting that one as a bad call.

I mean that’s a TD to Odunze.  You can go and watch every game next week and see the OT lined up a little back of the line of scrimmage.  It’s the most normal thing in the world.  It’s the football equivalent of driving 5 MPH over the speed limit.  And Caleb took a shot to the head with no call.  Daniel’s gets a brush to the helmet  and it’s roughing.  These are absolutely game-flipping calls.

The Sweat facemask penalty was senseless and dumb but Dennis Allen’s defenses have always been one of the most penalized unites every year he’s coached so the high amount of penalties on defense aren’t too surprising.

There was a ton of bizarre calls against the Bears. There was the “push off” on Loveland that wiped out a nice first down catch. Another weird call when Kmet had a catch.

It’s why I don’t really consider this too much of a lucky win for the Bears because there was so much bad officiating going against them.

It was like watching the refs in longest yard at times.

Well, even Troy Aikman had a rough time trying to show and explain it, should tell you something about the quality of officiating.

They made a big deal about Swifts jersey tug on Caleb’s rushing td. I’m drawing a blank after that.
