It warms my heart to know that this means we'll be Rizzo make frequent visits to Wrigley in the years ahead. For the roller coaster ride we've been on this season, the return of Sammy and now Rizzo retiring as a Cub will go down as my two favorite moments from this season and neither had anything to do with the game on the field.

4th of july cardinals beatdown was better

That’s great. It was a pretty ugly exit

Was it? I don’t remember that. Didn’t they trade him where he wanted to go? I am sure a few negative comments were made, but I don’t remember an ugly exit. But you might be right. I just don’t remember it that way.

Jed made a comment to media after the trade about trying to get those guys extended and implying it was the fault of the guys who got traded and that they didn't act like they wanted to stay during negotiations.  If I remember right, Rizz took exception and was basically like "i don't know why he would say that" so there was a bit of hurt feelings it seemed.

I think all those guys probably were intent on testing free agency., unless they got an offer they couldn't refuse I guess  The lack of counter-offering per Jed seems to point to that.
