We went from “Pressly has actually been good since the game he gave up 8 ER without recording an out” to “Pressly has been DFAd” very quickly.

After 10 years as a high K reliever, Pressly suddenly stopped being able to miss bats this year at an astounding rate. He was able to adjust for a while and be effective for about 2 months, and then stopped again.

He’ll be back in Houston shutting people down in no time.

He's days of shutting people down or being effective are well behind him.  There might be some bottom feeders who'll give him a spot for the remainder of this season and he'll blow up for them as well.

Next three are't too hard: Ballesteros goes back to Iowa. Kriskee and Hollowell go on vacation.

It'll get tougher when Assad, Taillon and Amaya come back in the very near future.

Bigger question - what are the other three moves to make before tomorrow's game?

There are several peripheral relievers who could get DFAd. Kriske seems obvious. Hollowell, Cosgrove could go. I like Roberts but he seems like another one. Luke Little has not gotten a look in a long while. Pearson has been bad when up. And at this point most of these guys would probably slip through waivers.

I suspect Berti goes for Amaya.  I think Castro ultimately made both Brujan and Berti redundant.  Team carries three catchers for a month and then a kid gets the last bench spot in September.

On the pitching front, I suspect one of Brown/Horton for one and Pomeranz for the other, barring an injury making the decision for them.

Yep, I was told he was good when I said they shouldn't be using him in close games anymore , what was it 2 weeks ago 😅😅

Tbf he was getting good results for awhile. Idk how the peripherals looked but he had not been terrible until recently. It's not a shock. He couldn't strike out anyone anymore.

Through remember he was mad he wasn't guaranteed the closer role before the season? Lol

I do recall an outing right after the historically bad one he finally struck someone out and he came raging off the mound spewing expletives before and after "I can't miss bats".  But alas he couldn't, which is why he kept being pushed to lower and lower leverage until he even stopped getting people out at all.

I'd say DFA'ing him would be worth 1-2 wins but he didn't pitch in leverage anymore so probably not.   He had a good career, sorry to see it end that way but they seldom end well do they?

I still don't get why Jed acquired Pressly at all, he has access to the data, did he think Pressly was going age like a fine wine?

Pressly still projected very well coming into the year

I would say "very well" might be a stretch.   For me "very well" for a guy who you are wanting and hoping to compete for a high leverage spot, most likely closer, would have to be a bet better than his were.    The one pre-season projection I found was a 3.74 ERA with a 1.17 WHIP.  Is that considered very good these days for a high leverage reliever?

3.35 ERA according to ZiPS, and a bunch of the guys around him are second tier closers like Kirby Yates and Trevor Megill

Do you consider that projecting "Very Well".  I guess I'm splitting hairs, but I don't.  I'd call that good....not sure that warrants the "Very"
