Funnily enough, Michael Busch (162 wRC+) has hit better than Pete Alonso (161 wRC+) on the year. So even if the league wanted to select the player with the 19th best fWAR in baseball (Pete Alonso) he hasn't even been the best hitter in the NL at his own position.

Obligatory: Michael Busch's wRC+ is likely inflated to being shielded from LHP all season and Pete Alonso has 80 more PA's on the season, but from dramatic effect I'm going to hide that point here in a spoiler because I'm petty and making a point.

Reminiscent of the year DLee won the Silver Slugger and Gold Glove, but Pujols won the MVP.

Seiya was snubbed because the Marlins need a representative.

In Stowers defense, he's had a really good season. He's rocking a 140 wRC+,which is 8th best of any OF'er in baseball. That's actually better than Suzuki's 138 wRC+. They are tied for fWAR at 2.1.

The Marlins needed a rep, but I think Stowers made it on his own.

Suzuki and Busch really just had a stacked NL to deal with. In the AL, both probably make the roster easy. J-Rod from Seattle is on the team with a 101 wRC+ and 1.1 fWAR.

A few minutes ago they interviewed PCA and The Zuki. PCA had a blue hoodie over his head. It reminded me of these two

Seiya and Busch NOT making the All-Star team is a horsefeathers travesty.

You are 100% correct BUT for selfish reasons I"m glad they're gonna get a nice break to re-charge their batteries for the 2nd half. Both have exceeded my expectations by leaps and bounds. Along with PCA, they're the best hitters on the club

Triple crown stats don’t matter as much anymore. Javy being named a starter is comical.

Maybe you don’t get ESPN through Disney+ in America? We do in Australia, which is why the game is on Disney+ here.

The NL RBI leader getting snubbed is beyond ridiculous.

In other news, looks like the tarp is coming off the field?

7:10pm(est) is what they're shooting for.

Really surprised Busch didn't make it when 3 1B are on the roster

His 2.5 fwar puts him 3rd behind Olson(3.1) and Alonso(3.0) ahead of Freeman (2.1)

His 162 wRC+ leads the NL

His 18 HR is 2nd

His 56 RBI is 5th

His .402 wOBA is 1st

Guy got completely hosed

Maybe the rosters were set before Busch's last two days?

Maybe. But I think even had the last two days occurred, this would have happened.

Freeman was the fan vote. He's 4th in the MLB in fWAR at 1b. Alonso and Olson are 1st and 2nd in fWAR respectively. Freeman, on June 17th, had a 161 wRC+, he's been in a slump, so it's hard to blame voters on "LA bias" because he had been great when they were voting. The selection then went to the 1st and 2nd at the position. So it's really hard to find fault in the process as long as fans vote and they close that off a bit early.

Busch is mostly a causality of circumstance. He'd be the defacto starter in the AL on season alone, where as in the NL, he's been bouncing in that 3-4 range all year.

I should have known that these streaming platforms aren’t the same between different regions. Sorry guys!

Freeman and Alonso are pretty much guarantees. For Olson, I would love to see Suzuki over him because I still value RBI's and the Cubs are 14 games better than Atlanta, but I have a feeling with the game being in Atlanta, that Olson will get a good shot.

Pretty much would like to see our guys get rest though.

Dodgers lost. They now have 35 losses and have to play a 3 game set in Milwaukee tomorrow. Cubs at 36 losses.

Hopefully after these next 3 games, the Dodgers are still on 35 losses. 🙂
