We’re on the same level as the dodgers and Mets and it’s blasphemy to even question that narrative.

Right. Except the Mets are 20-12 against teams .500 or better.  Including beating us.

How many blown saves is he and the pen going to have. 4 hits with the auto runner. PU

Need a REAL closer at the deadline but who is there is the question

That offensive Fwar counts as half a win in the standings.

Highest on base percentage and slugging in that stretch if you were looking for something less ‘nerdy’ but I get the sense I know where this is going and will just say that yes, clearly they don’t have the Clutch Gene or The Will To Win and there can be no recovery from those flaws.

I don’t think the Cubs have had a bad 10-15 games period yet . They are due for one and this may be the beginning . Hopefully St Louis and Milwaukee don’t play good ball , if that is the case .

stop, this is completely meaningless. you just want to complain because they're finally hitting a tiny little rough patch

Really?  It was his second inning of work and two of the four were legitimate hits.  Yes, he got hit hard, but it's not like he went out there and gave up four straight line drives.

Actually you have no clue if it’s meaningless as both sides of this discussion can point to example over the years to validate their point.  The Cubs offense against decent or better teams has been bad lately.  End of story.  No one is saying more than that.

What’s with the idea that the Cubs haven’t been scoring since late April? Since April 23 seems to be the arbitrary endpoint of choice: from 4/25 through the end of the Washington series l, they averaged 5.4 runs per game (an 867 run full season pace). They’ve been cold for 4 games, which is frustrating, yes. But take a deep breath, folks.

Also lol at the guy melting down about not having a closer after the bullpen is less than perfect for the first time in nearly a month.

Cardinals were down 3-1 in the 8th and Herrera hit a 3 run homer to put them ahead . Toronto has tie it in the 9th . 4-4

No one actually said that.  Geographyhater said since 4/23 they have a very bad record against teams .500 or better.  4-9 since then.  You cannot mention things like this because it means you hate the Cubs and are only looking for horrible things and the Cubs to fail and Armageddon to begin.

Getting mad about losing to the likes of Zack Wheeler and Tarik Skubal, on the road no less, is just a glaring sign you don't know ball

Of course the Cardinals hit a 3 run HR to take the lead in the 8th.  Looks like the lead is down to 3 (not that standings matter in June just annoying cap to an annoying few days and its becoming more and more likely that this run by the Cardinals is not a fluke)

edit nvm I didn't see they tied it again

No one got mad, but hey don’t bother with reading.  If you think it was simply about the last two games against a good pitcher then you don’t know reading comprehension.

So the insinuation by both you and GH8888 that this team hasn’t been the same since Carson Kelly cooled down was meant to make what point?

Just maybe Wheeler, Flaherty, Skubal, Gore, Abbott, and Lodolo are good at what they do.

You nailed it.  What’s being said is they’re not good and we should be killing them.  Jesus.

Oh my mistake it's about 13 games.  That's way better lol

Every year this team hits a rough patch for the first time and half this board acts like they’ve never experienced the ebbs and flows of a 162-game season before.

Anyway, over their last one games, Kyle Tucker and Ian Happ are each on pace for 162 RBIs.

Neither of us suggested it was Kelly and Kelly alone.  It’s a game thread.  There wasn’t some super deep point.  It was simply mentioning the team has been very poor lately against decent and better teams.  That stretch (I assume to GH8888 as well) is starting to get a little concerning/frustrating.  Nothing beyond that.  Then we got told we were doomsdayers and hates the team.   It’s an overreaction to a simply venting during a game that’s after a team we love is having a ****** stretch.  End of story.

It’s much more meaningful than two games.  You act like we’ve been going nuts over this, when it was a simple statement of fact, and frustration.  Seriously.  We didn’t suggest the team sucked, or they were going down and would never win again.  Nothing of the sort.  So stop acting as if that’s what happened.

You know the Cubs are having a good season when usernames I’ve never seen before or haven’t seen much in years are popping up to panic about the team after a couple tough games.

I know I can overreact at times too but pretty chill about this overall. Eventually you just watch enough baseball seasons to recognize that this horsefeathers happens every year to almost every team.

But if they lose tomorrow I’m throwing an epic tantrum!

Okay good to know we've cleared that up. Mets > Cubs > Dodgers since the Dodgers are .500 against over .500 teams and we won the season series against them.
