Is Busch out with an oblique injury or does Counsel still refuse to give his every day first basemen abs vs lefties?

Isn't this why they added Turner (RH bat) to get these starts against lefties

Don't have any respect for the Reds lineup, their big bat is an over performing Austn Hays, it's frustrating the Cubs starters can't manage to be average.  Average starting pitching holds these guys down.

I still don’t understand why is a 40 YO Turner hitting under the Mendoza line a better option than Busch.

Not saying he is, just that it was likely their plan going into the season against most or tougher lefties. 🤷‍♂️

They stopped platooning PCA but still platoon Busch. Makes no sense.

Plus Lodolo has reverse splits, Busch, very small sample size, has big numbers vs. Lodolo.

For a 40 YO Turner with a 540 OPS at that. Busch at worst would be a net neutral vs lefties at the plate and his defense alone

gives him an edge over Turner.

Id like to see Busch play every game too, especially for his glove.

Just think it just that Turner is their main bench guy and it more about getting him his AB to stay fresh and the best way to do it is subbing for Busch against most lefties.

Mentioned the other day, I know it too soon for a significant trade but damn it going to be tough winning games going forward til July with this rotation and bullpen.

Be great but these bats just aren't going to keep scoring 5+ to bail them out

This gets mentioned often. Not just you. And I get it. But the problem is, “who is even available”? Who is this mystery pitcher the Cubs should trade for? As for the pen, unless it is a closer(which, again, who is available?) I don’t see a reason to add another questionable arm now. And again, even if it is a middle relief pitcher move, who is available? Cubs are going to have to live with what they have for now. Maybe Imanaga gets back in 2 weeks. Maybe Horton does take that 5th spot. Maybe Brown goes to the pen and that helps the pen. The problem with that is the innings guys will be throwing. I agree they need someone. But I don’t see anything happening until the TDL. And, honestly, even then who is trading. TOR starter?

That just it, as I have mentioned it too soon for any real significant trade for a true quality starter or even bullpen guy, nobody trading those guys now unless Hoyer really over pays for one, which unless it a Skenes type we don't want that to happen.

Just need to hang tight and hope the hitters can continue to bail them out when needed and or pitching can hold up and not totally fall apart til July when these deals can be made to upgrade.

Just tough with 3 mid starters, and 2 raw rookies now. Bullpen that inconsistent for most part.

Sick and tired of watching him labor through every inning and forcing the offense to put up a 10 spot to feel safe.

He is getting a league-leading 8 runs of support per game

They were a couple big hits away from hitting that number already 😅
