So we lead the league in games scoring 10+ runs and we also lead in shutouts pitched

Probably a question that deserves its own thread, but... is this sustainable? 33 games in is a decent sample size (20% of the season so far.) However, I'm a Cubs fan and this is baseball, so....

Almost certainly not.  But it's fun.

Considering we're league average in runs allowed per game and ERA, I don't think we're going to lead the league in shutouts pitched.

As for the offense, they're on pace to score 992 runs this year, which only 9 teams since 1900 have ever done. So that won't happen. But could they lead the league or be close to it in runs per game? Sure. Prior to today the Cubs were averaging 6 runs per game which was nearly a full run more than the 5th place Reds (5.09) and 6th place Mariners (5.07).

PCA hit his first HR 16 Games ago.

I think he's just done taking walks, trying to be selective. When he does that his production falls off a cliff. I guess you just live with the approach if he's gonna give you 150 XBH, which he's been on a pace for for the last 2 weeks lol

I wouldn't be surprised if PCA ends up having streak/slump cycles similar to Soriano:

- Prodigious hot streak

- Slowly expand your zone because you think you're a god who can't be stopped

- Reach the point where you're swinging at practically everything

- Deep cold streak

- Attempt more patience out of desperation

- Hit a point where the walks start piling up

- Pitchers start having to throw strikes again

- Prodigious hot streak

Whenever I see "PCA", I think of that old Rob Van Dam signature taunt and I kind of want to see PCA do that taunt after a HR.

Imagining the chants of "PCA" in the post-season.
