Tim Couch, Brady Quinn, Brandon Weeden, Johnny Manziel, Baker Mayfield, DeShaun Watson… yea, why not Shadeur.

In this case, he would be 3rd on the depth chart behind Flacco and Pickett

After witnessing Flacco with the Colts last year I'm not sure that man can see the field anymore. I'm happy for Pickett, though. Takes a lot of guts to move out of state like that.

Exactly. I think it is very similar to why teams didn't want Kaepernick or Tebow around. Too much noise for a back up QB

Kaepernick wasn’t a backup and there wasn’t too much noise around him. Had he been a vocal pro Trump guy, none of the teams would have cared. There also wasn’t too much noise around Tebow. He just wasn’t an NFL QB.

Both of them became significant distractions that overshadowed their on-field performances. In Tebow’s case, the fascination around him escalated to such a point that it became impossible to justify his place on a roster.

I will have the 🍿 ready when Cleveland decides to keep Sanders inactive all year. I say this because I find it hard to believe Cleveland will carry 3 QBs much less 4 on the active roster. Then again, this is Cleveland we are talking about so who knows.

Cleveland's war room did not look too happy about the pick. Were they forced to draft Sanders?

Tebow wasn’t good at playing football. That’s what made it impossible to keep a place on a roster.

kaepernick’s place was just taken away by bigotry.

No, they both just sucked as pros and weren’t worth the distraction and media attention they created for entirely different reasons.

Kaepernick did not suck as a pro. He was quite good.

Tebow sucked as a pro and was obsessed with cutting off little boys penises

Kaepernick was an exceptional athlete in an offensive system that did an incredible job hiding how much he actually sucked as a pro QB. He had a sub-60% career completion percentage. He was essentially a better utilized version of Blake Bortles.

I’m not even sure what the Tebow comment is supposed to mean.

Kaepernick was good enough to be on a roster. What he did shouldn’t have been a distraction. I think he was a good QB of starting caliber, but even if you don’t agree with that, he was definitely worthy or having a job as a solid back up. He got blackballed because he dared to stand up for his belief. Tebow sucked, period. He didn’t deserve a roster spot.

In today's NFL with RPO offenses, and had he been less adamant about remaining a QB, Tebow maybe has some usefulness in a role similar to Taysom Hill. Maybe.

Mariota is probably a better comparison for Kaepernick than Bortles. He was good enough to be on a roster but if you're counting on him as your starter you've probably got a lot of problems.

Kaepernick didn’t become a distraction. He was made into a distraction by right wing idiots who only care about left wing views being kept out of sports. Again, if Kaepernick had been a right wing loony, he would have continued to be employed in the NFL.

The conservatives I know, were perfectly fine with Kaepernick. There is a misnomer that conseratives and MAGA are one and the same. Not always.

There are no good conservatives. They are all MAGA. If they weren’t, we wouldbt be where we are

Kaepernick was not a distraction. You are correct.

Edited after some reflection.

Kaepernick was asked to stop the demonstrations and declined. At that point he made himself a distraction. Whether or not his actions were justified is irrelevant.

Oh no, he took a knee for the anthem! The horror! It inconvenienced literally nobody and hurt literally nobody. What a huge fucking distraction that was! Meanwhile Tyreek Hill (among others) abuses both women and children and the NFL is cool with that. Stop defending the NFL and stop claiming Kaepernick wasn't a starting caliber QB. Was he a superstar? No. But he wasn't an awful QB like Tim Tebow either.

I never said he was wrong for what he did but saying that it wasn’t a distraction would be disingenuous of me.

I also agree that the NFL has historically swept incidents of domestic violence under the rug. There were several draft prospects with such incidents that were still drafted this weekend.

What he did should not have been a distraction. He should have never been asked to stop what he was doing. The NFL and the idiot in charge of our country at the time make it a distraction then tried making him the bad guy. He should have had a career after he knelt.

All very true and I will always be an advocate for personal freedom. I still stand by my convictions that he was not a very good QB.

I will recant my previous statement as I feel that I entirely misrepresented my own position on the matter. Kaepernick himself was not a distraction. The situation, however, was at no fault of Colin himself.
