Last 2 years the cubs have been on the wrong side of almost every tie breaker for the WC. I don’t expect them to be fighting for the WC this year, but if they are it is nice to have the tie breaker on the Dbacks. (I expect them to win the division with 93+ wins, but good to have an edge if it does matter.)

Our record is absolutely nuts when considering who we've faced. We better not ease up when the 'soft' part comes.

If Hoyer locks up Tucker we are going to own the division through the decade at the very least.

Someone should tell Jed and the Ricketts.

Sign Tucker, own the division, more revenue. It makes sense.

I was going to comment on the tiebreakers , I see rcal touch on it . With that said the have a question about the tiebreaker with SD . They split 6 games and they both scored 25 runs . Who gets the tiebreaker if needed ?

Good question.

So far 9-5 during our rough stretch that started April 4. Get at least 2 of the next 6 and that’s a winning record through the April portion of it.

Ben Brown's opponents and how they rank in runs/game this year

10th

12th

8th

10th

2nd

Obviously want him to cut down on the walks but generally still pretty happy with him all things considered.

Okay I looked about the tiebreakers and I think in the case of the Cubs and Padres the tiebreaker goes to the team hat has the best record in their division . Cubs ( Central and Padres west . If someone can  check on this .it would be nice

I think that is correct.

Which is why I am pushing back on chibears assessment that Brown is going to be a late innings pen guy. I believe he is a starting pitcher, and can be a good one.

Cubs are 2 games up and we're getting to the point where you can see light at the end of the tunnel with the schedule

There's a quick respite against the Pirates in there (which, us being the Cubs, I fully expect us to blow). But for the most part the teams we're facing are pretty tough until mid-May.

I don't think the Cubs are as good as they've played thus far. But hey, this is the best time for us to be overperforming. If we can just play like the slightly above average team that we are moving forward from that point, we should sneak into the playoffs without too much trouble.

I'm not especially convinced the Giants are anything more than a .500 team having a good month.

The schedule certainly doesn't get easy until mid May, but I consider the Phillies series next weekend to close out the truly intimidating stretch.
