Yeah I kind of agree.  I'm fine with the save for the last 3 innings thing, but there has to be some sort of limitation, like you only get a save if you pitch the last 3 innings and the lead is 6 or less when you enter or something.  The idea that Rea could have given up 14 runs and still gotten the save is hilarious.

So we have the ahead 10 runs in the 7th lockdown pitcher down.

He hit better last year as a DH then not. It's a super silly conclusion to make 7 games into a season.

I realize this. That is why I answered as i did. Agree is is a very silly take on a slow start. Just another hot take.

I think its more rookie adjustments. I like how Shaw has been playing..hes gonna make mistakes but they are gonna pay off in the long run. Hes gonna be a cornerstone piece for us for a long time. Ive got a lot of faith in him and PCA.

It's actually why I liked his decision to try to stretch that single. We can talk game flow and whatever, but for Shaw it was an instinctive play and I don't think he's been instinctive very much. Instead, he's been reactionary. I think that's normal, as you get used to the speed of the game, the environment, etc. He's been behind low 90's fastballs and he crushes fastballs usually.

And yeah, it resulted in an out, but it felt natural from him. I want more of that.

Kelly had 2 career triples before this game.  He really went for it haha.

He almost blew a tire on his way to 3rd 😅

I just read that Progressive Field has never had a player hit for the cycle and it's been open for 31 years (roughly 2,500 games).  This Sacramento Park had one in its first ever MLB game.

Agree. I think we will see a bit more if that until the game starts to slow down a little for him. Im really excited about his future.

Do Cub catchers already have higher WAR this year than last year?

I checked, yes.  By almost 1 WAR.

I think he'll hit, I just worry about the glove at 3B, he's pretty stiff and I don't see that changing.  I suppose there's a chance he can make himself about average defensively.

All reports are that hes a hard worker. With reps, I can see him becoming a good defensive 3B, but I see your point. Worst comes to worst he shifts to 2B. Good problem to have

An average defensive 3b who hits would be just fine. I doubt he's ever going to be plus over there, but that's a profile that plays. His calling card will likely never be his defensive work, regardless of position.
