Pfaadt has huge L/R splits.  I expected Workman yesterday but definitely today.  Only question is whether it's for Nico or Shaw.

Nico supposed to get some early days off as he still in recover mode, so I'd expect it to be for him in the early going of the schedule.

Shaw needs to get consistent ABs now to show if he can adjust to Major league pitching but I'd expect a day off soon for him to just take a breathe and get back out there, especially if he looks overmatched this weekend.

Damn, Yankees are crushing the Brewers today. It only the 3rd inning they already have 13 runs on 7 homers.

They started game with back to back to back on 3 straight pitches, Judge has 2 homers already.

7 homers in first 3 innings sets a MLB record

Aaron Judge..

They just finished the 4th

Judge is 3 for 4, 3 Homers and 7 RBI

Yankees now have 16 runs on 8 homers, they need 2 more to tie BlueJays for MLB record in game with 10

Extremely early returns are that the Williams/Cortes trade is going to be one of those "everybody loses" types like the Kimbrel trade.

Has Shaw, thus far, hit one ball hard?  I know it's very difficult and all but, horsefeathers, I'd like to see one "top" prospect do something early.  PCA, after a long period, came around, Shaw, like him early, looks to be adapting/adjusting, it's going to a be long time before we see anything from Shaw.  Isn't it?

To Shaw's credit, his first PA resulted in an out on a ball up the middle that resulted in a xBA of .500, and last night he hit a fly ball with an EV of 92mph. It's not blistering, but it's not weak contact, either.

On the bigger point - I would expect April to be rough, yes. The Cubs play LAD x7, SD x6, Arizona x7, Philadelphia x3. Texas x3 and Pittsburgh x3 through the first week of May. When he's at home, he'll be dealing with April in Wrigley - this won't be conducive to hitting. So he'll be facing great pitching and ****** weather. The best prospects in baseball have been having real transition periods in getting to the Show; this incudes Jackson Holiday going 0-25 and striking out a ton, Jackson Chourio had a 68 wRC+ in April and a 51 wRC+ in May...

There has been a discourse that the gap between Triple-A and the MLB is currently growing as teams are more willing to fast track good pitching (so as not to waste the bullets before TJS in, say, the minors) meaning there is less good pitching for hitters to cut their teeth on at lower levels. I would expect all prospects to go through real learning pains for 30-45 games. Th schedule and weather is going to likely amplify that for Shaw. It's okay - it's just the reality.

Lineup looks a little different tonight at 2b and 3b.

Welcome to the Show, Workman!

Surprise to see both Workman and Berti in lineup at same time this early, oh well, I guess you gotta get them their AB sometimes

Bellinger also had a nice game for the yankees, would have been nice if they spent the money they saved from his salary dump instead of pocketing it

Not only did they pocket his money, they also just traded Poteet whom they traded Bellinger for, to the Orioles for Cash.
